Zareer Darashah schooled Brave Assault (Brave Act-Royal assault) earned his maiden victory in a facile manner, beating his five rivals with a measure of comfort, in the Royal Western Indian Turf Club Ltd. Trophy, which featured Friday’s races at Mysore. Heavenly Divas came in for some spirited betting towards race time and went in as the firm favourite while the odds on Brave Assault started to ease up.

Heavenly Divas was quick at start to go to the front and was closely tracked by Jazzbythebay. The pair of Brave Assault and Big Hero followed the leaders about two lengths behind. On entering the home straight, Brave Assault was given a reminder by jockey Trevor and the son of Brave Act moved with big strides to take control and score a comfortable win. Big Hero travelled wide off the fence to place second, ahead of Heavenly Divas and Mischief in a photo finish for the minor places.

The speedy Miss Ruby (Eljohar-Suriyothai) put up another mighty performance to lift the Renowned Plate, a six furlongs sprint for horses rated 60 and above. As the gates opened Miss Ruby did not get a clear passage but she forced her way to get to the front early. Real Magic stepped up the pressure inside the last 300 metres but the 6 year old Miss Ruby showed plenty of grit to carry the back breaking weight of 64 kilos to hit the wire half a length in front. Caterina finished third.

Trainer B.K.Narendra saddled a double through Sequanna and Prezzie. Sequanna (Tirol-Progressing) surprised everyone in the Republican Plate. There was a spell of heavy downpour as the loading started and the race was run in wet conditions. The favourite Missiszippy led the field for the first 300 metres and dropped back to run in fifth while Sequanna, carrying a feather weight rushed from the rear to hit the front. On the final straight Sequanna kept up the momentum till the post. Absence and Samrat fought on behind the leader and finished second and third respectively. Missiszippy went down without a fight, finishing off the frame.

Prezzie (Juniper-Landrail) won the Hiriyur Plate, the concluding race of the day. Prezzie tracked the leader Youre A Legend till the last 500 metres and surged ahead rounding the turn. Almost half a dozen horses came in a line approaching the distance post with a challenge but Prezzie held on to the advantage and kicked on to win. Rashida found a wide gap along the inner rails and went for it but could only finish second. Rashida was observed to have returned lame on left fore legs. Best Move was the fastest finishing after moving through thick traffic, to finish third ahead of Ahira.

C.D.Monnappa trained Leather Queen (Flitch-Blue Chip) picked up her second successive win of the season, in the Red Rufus Plate, the first race of the day. Bahman set out on a start to finish mission over the seven furlongs trip and looked to be well on course, approaching the distance marker. Jockey R.Vaibhav brought Leather Queen along the inner ground and with a forceful ride went past by a neck, close to the winning post. Artisan toiled hard to take the third place.

S.Rakesh’s Omega Man (Hymn-Maribella) who had found one better in his previous outing, made amends by winning the Kodlipet Plate by a big margin. Café Date set out in front and established a long lead of nearly eight lengths. On entering the straight Café Date started to shorten his strides and Omega Man who had by then made significant headway to get to a striking position, shot ahead and stretched out to register a comfortable victory. Prince Of Argyle finished second while Star And Stripes who braced the rear for a long time came in to take the third spot.

Pratap Kamath’s Aerial Acrobat (Brave Act-Circus Maid) earned her maiden win, in the Kinski Plate. Aerial Acrobat started off as the favourite but drifted out to be second in demand as Speck In The Sky came into strong contention. Apprentice M.Rajesh Kumar made sure to get his mount to lead the field within the first furlong and stepped up the momentum on the final straight to win quite comfortably. Passage Of Time covered good ground towards the finish to take the second spot ahead of Prettyyashvini. Speck In The Sky finished a tame fourth.
