Vishal Yadav trained Demanding Format (Hymn-Flaming Bay) found her galloping shoes, to get back to winning ways, in the Nairn Cup, a six furlongs sprint for horses rated 60 and above. Demanding Format whose last win was almost six months ago had finished fourth in both her earlier starts thus indicating her return to form. The 4 year old filly was at a striking position as the heads turned for home with Caterina in the lead and Perfect Bond trying to get evens with the leader. The rider Goutham Raj Urs brought Demanding Format with a run on the outside and the filly responded instantly to beat her rivals comprehensively. Café Del Monte covered plenty of ground to finish an impressive second after trailing the field till the top of the straight. Caterina finished third. High Treason whipped around immediately after jumping out and dislodged the rider.

Micheal Eshwer’s Midnight Cruze (Placerville-Thundering Power) showed plenty of speed while beating the favourite Tusker in the Doddabellapura Plate. Tusker went to the front from the start but found one better for the second successive time. Midnight Cruze moved alongside on entering the home stretch and went past without much fuss. Vertex rallied late from the rear to finish third.

C.D.Monnappa’s Unchallenged (Ajaad-Royal Engagement) scored a remarkable encore in the Itarsi Plate. A runaway winner in its earlier essay, Unchallenged defied the hefty penalty and won with ease. Unchallenged tracked the leader Sequanna till the top of the straight and sailed ahead inside the last 400 metres. Preset moved to finish second while the long time leader Sequanna took the third spot many lengths behind. Shahizaar was withdrawn before the race.

Zareer Darashah saddled Star And Stripes (Sussex-Titania) to victory in the Paschimavahini Plate. Awesome Fighter and On Call ran prominently till the last 200 metres and finding the mile trip not within their compass, fell back. Star And Stripes took charge near the distance post and was quickly joined by Queen’s Colour and the two went stride for stride throughout the last furlong. Jockey Trevor’s superiority over the lesser experienced Irvan Singh had Star And Stripes in front by a ‘short head’ at the wire. Maximum City finished third ahead of Time Secret.

Hyderabad based jockey A Ashhad Asbar booted home a double through Green Mist and Cute Style. Green Mist (Kly Green-Showering) who had moved to Mysore from Hyderabad a year ago had run fourteen races without any success. This time the right money came on the six year old and the mare was sent into the race as the firm favourite. Showing plenty of speed Green Mist went to lead the field from the start and kept improving all through to score an easy win in the lower division of the Magadi Plate. Archer who was in chase throughout finished second ahead of Game Of Life.

C.V.G.K.Kishore’s Cute Style (Stavros-Modesty Blaze) was taken to the front by Ashhad in the higher division, the concluding race of the day and was never headed. Dare Don, Speedy Amigo and Caldera filled the frame while the stable mate of Cute Style who was strongly supported finished a poor sixth.

Chamcha In Chief (San Francisco-Golden Opinion) from M.Bobby’s yard was ridden by M.Madhu Babu to victory in the higher division of the Varanasi Plate. Grabbing the inner rails quickly at start, Chamcha In Chief led the field and made every post a winning one. Chakravyuha Bhedak and Manthara were pressed hard in the last 100 metres to finish second and third respectively. Corbett Queen was withdrawn before the race.

J.Saravanan’s Showhorse (Flitch-Accademia) galloped resolutely to collar Heart Of Reality close to the winning post and justify the favouritism, in the lower division, the first race of the day.
