It was a parade of the Classic hopefuls from trainer L.V.R.Deshmukh’s yard on Sunday at Malakpet. Vijay’s Pride, Tintinnabulation and Plenipotent were tested on the home turf and all of them displayed plenty of potential while winning their respective races. All of them were piloted by leading saddle artist P.S.Chouhan.

L.V.R.Deshmukh trained Vijay’s Pride (Bertolini-Designer Chic) lifted the Air Command Cup which featured the day’s races. Winner of the Fillies Championship Stakes at Bangalore, Deshmukh’s filly was the only 3 year old among the fourteen runners in the field, to go over the mile trip and she won the race with a measure of comfort. Kohinoor Wish was the only one who could muster a challenge towards the closing stages but found the young filly a though customer. P.S.Chouhan had settled Vijay’s Pride in about seventh position for most part of the race and started to move around the front runners approaching the final turn. On the home stretch Elzaam went ahead to take the lead but that was short lived as Vijay’s Pride travelled effortlessly to surge ahead. Kohinoor Wish weaved his way through horses in the last 100 metres and tried his best to get to terms with the winner but failed to collar the youngster.

Tintinnabulation (Intikhab-Tourmalet) toyed with the opposition while winning the Shivakumar Lal Memorial Cup. A winner of two races at Bangalore, one over 5 1/2 furlongs and the other over 9 furlongs and later finishing fifth in the Derby in soft underfoot conditions, Tintinnabulation registered its first win on home turf. Racing close behind Frontline and Vijayshaurya till entering the home straight, Tintinnabulation drew clear to win with plenty on hand. Golden Rule was the best of the beaten brigade, finishing second.

Plenipotent (Iffraaj-Beldon Hill) decimated the opposition in the higher division of the Mirza Ghalib Plate. Tracking Crown Castle and Grigori on a tight rein, till the last furlong, Plenipotent unleashed a terrific turn of foot to draw away from the field to register an effortless win.

S.A.Shehzad Abbas’s Flying Spur (Don Micheletto-Upper Brook) picked up his maiden win in a tantalizing finish from Secret Angel, in the Noble Quest Plate. The grey Secret Girl was the first to take the initiative on entering the straight and was quickly joined by Flying Spur. Imran Khan on Flying Spur and P.A.Culhane on Secret Girl went all out on their respective mounts and they went past the winning post locked together. A final heave from Imran had Flying Spur’s nose in front of Secret Girl at the wire.

Apprentice A.K.Pawar won the battle of nerves with his more accomplished colleagues, P.S.Chouhan and Imran Khan, in the higher division of the Perceived Value Cup. Jumping out smartly from the gates, S. Habeebullah trained Yours Truly was taken to the front by A.K.Pawar and the filly enjoyed a two lengths lead over the nearest rival as they entered the final straight. Rustic Gal on the outside and Mr Glorious in the centre moved strongly inside the last 200 metres and the three fought a fierce battle towards the closing stages. Young Pawar kept his cool and rode out Yours Truly to stay ahead in front by a ‘head’ from Mr Glorious at the wire. Rustic Gal was third a further half a length away.

K. Satheesh trained Compromise (Cool Creek-Magic) wrapped up the lower division. A winner on debut, Compromise had finished third on the opening day of the season after failing to make the board in her subsequent four runs. Going by the performance, Compromise had a fair amount of supporters who preferred to wager against the favourite Win And Enjoy. Shatakshi went into the lead on the straight and Compromise started to move closer but was lugging in badly. Jockey P. Sai Kumar did well to correct the inner drift of Compromise and the 3 year old filly responded readily to quicken in the last 100 metres. Smashing Beauty and Win And Enjoy warmed up late to join Satakshi in the finish for the minor placing. The first named took the second spot ahead of Satakshi and Win And Enjoy.

Ananth Vatsalya’s Pluto Queen (Gaswar-Sacristia) came up with telling strides under N.Rawal to win the Grand Entry Plate from Queen Of Court. Racing in about sixth position nearing the final bend while Queen Of Court was up in front on a start to finish mission, Pluto Queen was pulled out by Nilesh and the 5 year old mare responded well to fly past and win the race.

R.H. Sequeira’s Toli Toli Toli did well to deny a win to the favourite So Super, in the lower division of the Mirza Ghalib Plate, the concluding race of the day. Bangalore based jockey M. Madhu Babu was up on the winner.
