Monday’s races at Hyderabad was cut short after a heavy downpour reduced the visibility and the day’s program of eight races being called off after the third race, keeping in view the safety of the riders. There was a steady drizzle before the start of the first race and that intensified later with the third race being run in soggy conditions. The monsoon track at Malakpet is designed to withstand such heavy downpour but the Stewards of the club decided to cancel the remaining races after the jockeys were apprehensive of their safety.

Trainer Ananth Vatsalya was the lucky one to have saddled two winners from the three races that were run. Jockey Ajeet Kumar was astride both the winners. Kohinoor Angel (Quest Star-Bold Choice), who had shed her maiden ranks three weeks ago, produced a brilliant run, to score an encore in the Red Rufus Plate. Ajeeth had Kohinoor Angel towards the rear, in second last position, for almost half the distance of the mile trip and started to make headway. On entering the straight Kohinoor Angel was set alight on the wide outside and the 4 year old filly responded well to shoot to the front and win. The Challenge, Lake King and Midnight Beauty filled the frame.

Golden Dash (Danehill Star-Alfa Romeo) relished the wet conditions and covered plenty of ground in the last 300 metres to get the better of the front running Emerald Touch towards the closing stages of the lower division of the Akkanna Plate, a 5 ½ furlongs dash for maiden 3 year olds. Emerald Touch finished second ahead of Ice Hill and True Scholar in a three way finish for the minor placing.

S.S.Faisal Hassan trained Citi Supreme (Kly Green-Supreme Fantasy) made every post a winning one, en-route to completing an encore in the Goa Plate. The 4 year old gelding went ahead from the start and despite drifting out of the straight course inside the last two furlongs, kept the throttle on, to score a facile victory. Cannon Ten rallied on to take the second spot in front of Speedtosucceed and Hidden Power.
