Trainer L V R Deshmukh leading Arrow In Auto Mode (P S Chouhan Up), winner of The Totaram's Cup

Arrow in Auto Mode (Razeen-Aglitter) made it an almost start to finish affair in the Totaram’s Cup, a seven furlongs race for horses above 3 years, in the highest category, at Hyderabad on Monday. Stable companion Super Duper, winner of the Colt’s  Championship Stakes last year, had not raced since then but enjoyed strong support in the betting, being sent into the race as the firm favourite despite the first jockey of the stable, P.S.Chouhan preferring to pick the ‘Arrow’. Jumping out well from the outermost draw in a field of  thirteen, Arrow in Auto Mode showed plenty of speed to grab the rails within the first furlong and lead the pack. Into the home stretch, the son of Razeen came in first with a lead of over two lengths over the nearest challenger and kept kicking on till the winning post. Melody Queen and Kuchipudi finished second and third respectively in a close finish, while Super Duper ended up fourth.

Sheer Genius (Gaswar-Carrera) from R.H.Sequeira’s yard had started off  his career with a win last winter but found one better in his next  three runs. Settling in a handy fourth till entering the home stretch,  in the A.P.Heritage Cup, he stepped up momentum and went clear with a  furlong left under P.S.Chouhan. Vijay’s Jet warmed up late to finish second while Cristiano took the third spot ahead of Kohinoor Victory.

Laxman Singh trained Racing Tycoon (Ace-Difficult Doll) won the nine  furlongs race for maiden 3 year olds, the Royal Tern Plate. Royal  Revive went to lead the field from the start and jockey Imran Khan was  trying his best to maintain the advantage moving into the last  furlong. Maharadhi started to move strongly on the outside and Racing  Tycoon was forcing his way in between the two, through a narrow gap. Racing Tycoon came very close to Royal Revive as he went ahead and the  later lost its stride and banged against the rails and dropped the  rider in the last 100 metres. Maharadhi finished on to take the second  spot. Architect was withdrawn before the race.

Jockey Nitin Singh rode out T.Srinagesh’s Geography (Hammerstein-Ruby  Tuesday) to victory, in the Dynamic Dancer Cup. Caladium in her  customary fashion went to the front at start and was closely tracked  by Geography. Nearing the last 600 metres Geography went ahead and the  favourite The Himalayas moving into second position. On entering the  straight, the two broke away from the rest and fought out the entire  stretch with the first named passing the winning post a length and a  quarter in front.

M.Sathyanarayana’s Power Planet (Epicentre-Classic Award) won the  Gentleman’s Deal Plate in an enthralling finish. The 3 year old, whose  last win was on debut in winter, came up with a terrific turn of foot  through the shortest way along the inner rails to deny what looked  like a clear win for Rise of Emerald, at the post. Bangalore based  jockey Kurshad Alam guided the 3 year old along the inner rails  intelligently when he found a wall of horses in front and Power Planet  responded brilliantly to raise a terrific gallop, covering ground at a   rapid pace and shot past Rise of Emerald at the post. M.Sathyanarayana recorded a double through Jaden Gil (Rambus-Dark Deed,) in the lower division of the Karimnagar Plate, the opening race of the day. Setting out in front from the start, Jaden Gil was ridden hard by J.H.Christopher to keep at bay Kohinoor Forever. Golden Adagio came in late to finish third in front of Sugar Deal.

Jockey Nilesh Rawal, who is having a great run this season, drove  K.S.V.Prasad Raju’s Cannon Ace to a maiden victory in the higher  division. Cannon Ace was taken to the front right from the word ‘go’  and when it looked he had it easy, came the favourite Moment of Roses  with a big gallop but failed by a neck at the wire.

Eloquence (Epicentre-Ours Good Faith) gave trainer D.Netto a much  needed win in the higher division of the Astana Plate. Nano Tribute  tried a start to finish tactics but came under pressure from  Eloquence, who surged ahead in the last 150 metres. Novaya Zemlya came  in late towards the finish but had to settle for the runner-up berth. Nano Tribute took the third spot.

S.Habeebullah trained India One (Hymn-Spirit of Patxi) dropped a  bombshell in the lower division. Racing a handy second near the final  bend, India One went past the leader Girnar near the distance post. Royal Scotsman covered plenty of ground on the extreme outside but  could not get the better of India One.
