A card of nine races was framed for the second day of the winter   season at Mysore on Wednesday and the followers of money had a rewarding day with seven well backed favourites obliging and the other two being won by horses in the reckoning.

Rakesh trained Color Me (Brave Act-Color Me Red), who had a roaring  start to her career, with four wins on the trot, was back again in the winners’ circle. Color Me had shown her return to form while finishing fourth to Thoughts And Action about a month ago and the filly was sent  into the Elusive Pimpernel Trophy as the firm favourite. Jockey S.John had Color Me in close attendance with the bunch in front and improved to get into striking position as they rounded the final turn. Color Me  went ahead readily on the top of the straight and carried the top  weight successfully till the winning post. Scholar followed the winner throughout the last furlong to finish second. Nishi Girl and Virat filled the frame.

Rakesh and John had earlier combined to win with Money Bay (Mt.Bellewood-Majestic Ceeson) in the Lt.ColC.Rudrappa Memorial Plate. They lost to Noughtsandcroses on the track in a close finish but got the verdict in their favour in the steward’s room. Noughtsandcrosses was taken to the front from the start with Bella Coola in chase. Money Bay began to improve on the home stretch and Noughtsandcrosses started to veer out of the straight course and severely hampered the running of Money Bay. John had to check his mount and change course towards the inside for a renewed challenge and with a strong finish went past the winning post locked with Noughtsandcrosses. John raised an objection against theS.Shiva Kumar, the rider of Noughtsandcrosses for deliberately coming on to him and bumping him and the stewards upheld the claim and reversed the order of placing.

Michael Eshwer schooled Duma (Phoenix Tower-Firecrest) won the first race for the new crop of the year at Mysore, the Dharwad Plate. Duma was a bit lethargic at start and raced towards the rear towards the early part of the race. Improving steadily, Duma took the opening along the rails on the final run in for home. Yakeen made the race interesting, giving a fight inside the last 250 metres but found the winner too good to collar and settled for the runner-up berth. Mother Ewa was a faraway third.

Alabama (Ajaad-Aldiora) from Zareer Darashah’s yard won the lower  division of the Sharavathi Plate in second attempt. After fighting it out with Miyarprincess, Alabama finished second on the race track but got the result in his favour following an objection. Miyarprincess  came in first on the straight with Alabama gaining ground steadily.Miyarprincess started to drift out from the inside and the run of Alabama was hampered especially in the last few strides where the rider of Alabama almost lost his balance. R.Vaideeshwaran, the rider of Alabama lodged an objection against the infringement and the stewards after deliberation upheld the objection. Amazer also improved strongly in the last 150 metres to challenge the two in front but
finished third in a close finish.

Vaideeshwaran scored a double through Dinesh Pujar’s Speedy Amigo (Diffident-Abish) in the higher division of the Gadag Plate, the concluding race of the day. Tracking the leaders Amiable Lady and Perfect Analysis till the last 350 metres, Speedy Amigo moved swiftly to take charge and kick on. Mr.Magic moved late to beat the rest and finish second.

Pratap Kamath’s Theworldismine (Brave Act-Antecedent) scored an encore in the lower division. Carrying the top weight of 61 kilograms, Theworldismine lay in wait along the rails all along while Amber Star did the running in front and slipped in to go clear. Pearl of Bangalore and Take My Word went past the winning post together to finish second and third respectively.

Kamath saddled his second winner through the raging favourite Esoterical (Ajaad-Carramia) in the higher division of the Sharavathi Plate. Esoterical on a start to finish bid, was joined by Tusker on top of the straight and the two fought out the last 300 metres.Esoterical held on by a neck at the wire. Formidable, who was penalized 21 points for its runaway win a week earlier finished on in third.

J.Saravanan trained Walter (Juniper-Forgotten Dreams) was backed to the exclusion of the other runners and the 7 year old devoured ground to weave through the front runners and win the Fantasy Dream Plate. Southern Pearl came quickly from an outward draw at start and led all  the way till beaten by Walter.

The bottom weighted Magnifique (Serious Spender-Zerbilla) from P.C.Tejaswi’s stables won the B.R.Hills Plate. In the front from the word ‘go’, Magnifique lengthened its stride and increased the lead on entering the home stretch. Kalyan, in about eighth position round the final bend, covered plenty of ground but the winner had skipped away to emerge victorious. Stardom Girl, who was in second all the way, finished third.
