The Committee Cup which featured the day’s card at Mysore was declared Null and Void after a Steward’s enquiry. The race was a six furlongs sprint for maiden 2 year olds and twelve of them had to be lined up for the start. The raging favourite Secret Treasure had to be withdrawn after the filly turned out to be fractious near the gates. When the race got underway, Mother EWA swirled out and refused to gallop. Birthday Angel added to the woes of Mother EWA. There was more action to unfold on the home stretch. Yakeen, who was getting ready to take charge, was jostled badly by Ace Academy and Coffee Time. The last named surged ahead and then came Keturah with a flourish from the outside and went past but in the process shifted in badly, tightening Coffee Time in the last 30 metres.

There were three objections that were raised by the affected parties and a Steward’s enquiry was also ordered into the running of the race. The crowd was also getting restive and the Stewards of the Mysore Race Club using their authority under Rule 31-A of the B.T.C. Rules of racing decided to declare the race Null and Void.

The Treasure’s Nest Plate, a six furlongs sprint for horses rated 80 and above was a ‘handicapper’s delight’, with four of the six runners involved at the finish. S.John rode S.Rakesh’s Color Me (Brave Act-Color Me Red) brilliantly, to prevail at the finish. Hurricane Bay set out to lead the field followed closely by Iron Marshall. The top weighted Dancing Touch, who was the race favourite, had a sluggish start but was brushed up early to join the leader. Color Me was second last along with Scholar. On top of the home stretch, Color Me was pulled out to make a run and near the 300 metres and all the six horses were almost in a line. Color Me picked up speed and surged ahead with Hurricane Bay and Iron Marshall in hot pursuit. Scholar was the fastest finishing towards the closing stages but fell short by a neck at the finish. Iron Marshall and Hurricane Bay finished third and fourth respectively in a close finish with the first four places covered in just a length. Dancing Touch tired out to finish last.

John completed a double with Feroz Khan’s Jazzbythebay (Royal Kingdom-Jazzego) in the higher division of the Bandipur Plate. Racing in around mid-field, Jazzbythebay improved steadily to get into striking position with the front bunch, as they showed up on the straight and with some forceful riding by John, shot to the lead. Sky High was in second right through the home stretch while Lake of Magic got up late to finish third. Vrajanandan was withdrawn before the race on veterinary grounds.

Michael Eshwer trained Treasure Mountain (Ace-Divine Diamond), who has always raced in elite company, faced a moderate opposition in the Nagarahole Plate and was backed to the exclusion of the other runners, going into the race at cramped odds. Jockey D.K.Ashish preferred to wait patiently behind the leader Virat till entering the straight and sailed past with minimum effort. Castle King came with a sustained run to get the better of Virat for the runner-up berth. Eshwer sent out another victor in the got abroad first timer Shine On (Jeremy-Baileys on Line) in the lower division of the Bandipur Plate. The favourite Golden Slipper was on a start to finish mission with Red Shift on a hot chase in the last 200 metres. Shine On was towards the inner rails in about eighth position as the field rounded the bend, was pulled out gradually by apprentice M.Rajesh Kumar, to be pitched on the extreme outside. Once shown the day lights, Shine On came up with a terrific turn of foot, to bridge almost eight lengths and spare three parts of a length to the runner-up at the wire. Red Shift just about managed to beat Golden Slipper to be the runner-up. Sky Empress was troublesome near the gates and was withdrawn.

Trainer T.Natraj’s streak of success continued with another double, through Southern Pearl in the opening race and Its My Party in the concluding race of the day. The 5 year old Southern Pearl (Royal Gladiator-Aly Tuck), who had found one better in her last run over seven furlongs, went on a start to finish bid yet again and successfully pulled it off over the extended trip to earn her maiden victory. Born to Perform was up with a strong challenge in the last 300 metres but was a length short at the finish.

Its My Party (Mischevious Music-Shift Over), who had come down in weights after its last win almost 15 months ago, proved to be no match for this set, winning by a length, despite running on the sand track in the last 50 metres. Its My Party jumped out smartly from the outermost draw and was quickly in the lead towards the inner rails. Closest to the fence as the field entered the home run, Its My Party started to shift out alarmingly and apprentice Himanshu could do little to arrest the drift and his mount got into the sand track with about 50 metres left in the race. Despite this Its My Party kept kicking on, to be ahead by a length at the finish from Huckleberry Finn, who gained momentum in the last furlong and moved towards the inside.

Zareer Darashah’s Brave Assault (Brave Act-Royal Assault) turned out to be the biggest upset of the day, in the higher division of the Pandavapura Plate. The 3 year old who has been striking in its every third run, maintained that pattern by winning from start to finish. Infatuation was in chase throughout the straight but failed to collar the winner. Midnight Cruze raised some hopes momentarily on the straight but felt the weight and failed to quicken, ending up fourth behind Spirituality.

The lower division was won by Ranjeet Shinde’s Visual Element (Sir Bordeaux-Royal Tour), who turned out to be another surprise out of the pack. Emerald had missed a few precious lengths at the start and brushed up to be in front on the top of the straight. Emerald tried hard to be in front but lost out in the last few strides when Visual Element burst into the scene in the centre of the track. Indian Royalty flashed on from the extreme outside to take the second spot in front of Emerald.
