Jockey A.K.Pawar kept his cool and continued to power his way on L.D’Silva trained Ponte Verdi (Epicentre-Crystal Beauty)to bounce back to winning ways in the higher division of the Rainbows for Life plate. The field which was reduced to six horses after the withdrawal of Price Warrior and Invincible India took a level jump and Ponte Verdi was quickly in front to lead. Airborne Magic was on the haunches of the leader with the race favourite Specialist another two lengths adrift. Entering the home stretch Airborne Magic started to fade out and Specialist was getting closer. Jockey Chauhan on Specialist started to work his way and probably expected the long time leader Ponte Verdi to pack up but that was not to be as Pawar kept riding out D’Silva’s ward, who held out by a ‘short head’ at the finish.

The lower division of the race was bagged by R.H.Sequeira trained Heros Choice (Gaswar-Hero’s Best). After being a handy third till the last 600 metres, Hero’s Choice fell back as the seven runners rounded the final bend and as they straightened up there was a wide path along the inner rails which was offered on a platter and jockey K.Anil guided Hero’s Choice towards the opening and was in front in a flash. Ache For Love moved on the extreme outside from the last position to be the runner-up while True Scholar and Nano Pride took the third and fourth places respectively.

Zoheb Shaikh’s youngster, Fearless Moments (Mull of Kintyre-Jade Image) showed a clean pair of heels to score an encore in the Bhavnagar Plate. Nano Belle, a winner on debut was in front from the start, tracked all the way by Fearless Moments. Inside the last 150 metres Fearless Moments was asked by A.Imran Khan to quicken and the son of Mull Of Kintyre responded readily to rush forward.

Imran Khan piloted a treble on the day. The other two winners being  D.Netto’s Majestic Rock in the opener and Zoheb Shaikh’s Queen’s Craft in the higher division of the Bhagyanagar Cup. Queen’s Craft (Ikhtyar-Eka) led the field for the first 300 metres and did not hurry up when Golden Adagio decided to go forward. Tracking Golden Adagio till mid-way up the straight Imran decided to go for it and Queen’s Craft readily accepted the challenge to move forward and stay well. Golden Adagio had to settle for the runner up berth.

Majestic Rock (Ajaad-Born Free) justified the cramped odds in the first race of the day, the division 1 of the King Rama Plate, thus shedding its maiden status. Racing close to the leader Grenada all the way from the start, Majestic Rock went ahead in the last 100 metres. Grenada held on in second while Amber Flame and Nano Tribute filled the frame.

Imran could not have his way in the lower division of the Bhagyanagar Cup where he lost out to Ace Star in the last few strides of the race. Imran Khan on Thirteen Black grabbed the lead on top of the straight and was going all out. D.K.Ashish brought Ace Star with a strong run in the final furlong, getting closer with every stride and managed to collar the leader in the shadow of the winning post.

P.S.Chouhan rode out M.Srinivas Reddy’s Desert Bloom (Hymn-Apache Star) to a hat-trick victory in the Ming Dynasty Plate. On a start to finish bid Desert Bloom had to be given a few hard backhanders when Noble Honour started to put pressure in the losing stages of the race. Kohinoor Revanta warmed up late to finish third.

L.V.R.deshmukh trained Musical Note (Whipper-Russian Muse) came up with a fluent gallop to win the Birthday Girl Plate, a five furlongs dash for maiden two year olds. On a debut run, Musical Note tracked Promotion into the straight and stretched out under P.S.Chouhan to win convincingly. Lovely Angel rallied late to take the second place, pushing back Promotion.

Apprentice Kiran Naidu used the 2.5 kilograms to his advantage in driving home S.A.Shehzad Abbas trained Pacific Star (Hymn-Mazzal) past the favourite Stolen Date in the Osman Sagar Cup. Dazzling Princess cut the wind from the start followed closely by Stolen Date and Pacific Star. Approaching the distance post Stolen Date went ahead first and Pacific Star rallied along strongly. The two fought out the last 100 metres and Pacific Star just managed to edge out Stolen Date on the last stride. Pakat Pakat Pakat finished third.  

For the professionals A.Imran Khan stole the show with a treble while P.S.Chouhan and trainer Zoheb Shaikh scored a double each.
