Mr. T Rakesh Reddy and trainer Ananta Vatsalya leading Kohinoor Wish (N Rawal Up), winner of The Mysore Race Club Cup

The 5 year old bay gelding Kohinoor Wish (Gaswar-Blue Sonata) from the stables of Ananta Vatsalya was given a neat ride by Nilesh Rawal to lift the Mysore Race Club Cup, which featured the day’s races at Hyderabad on Sunday. Royal Shaan was the early leader, followed closely by Vijay’s Conquer and the race favourite Kohinoor Wish settled well in third. As the field straightened up for the final run, Vijay’s Conquer surged ahead with Kohinoor Wish moving alongside quickly. Nilesh Rawal gave a couple of backhanders and Kohinoor Wish picked up momentum instantly to move ahead and take a clear lead. Melody Queen and Plenipotent warmed up late to finish second and third respectively.

Nilesh had started the day with a win on K.S.V.Prasad Raju’s juvenile, Staying The Best (Burden of Proof-My Hansel) in the Flirting Vision Plate. The son of Burden of Proof who was making his debut, was sent into the race as a piping hot favourite. The youngster was close behind the leaders as they came around the final turn and shot through horses in front. Nilesh Rawal kept pushing Staying The Best and Prasad’s ward kept extending the margin till the winning post. Kohinoor Punch, Beau Ideal and Jamie filled the frame in that order.

L.D’Silva trained Ocean Side (Noverre-Maratha Princess) galloped resolutely under J.H.Christopher to win the Malakpet Cup. Kohinoor Fighter and Cristiano brought the field into view on the home straight and even as the latter surged ahead, Ocean Side made rapid headway from the third position and went into the front. Precisely That finished on to be second while Audacious beat Cristiano for the third place.

Trainer S.S.Faisal Hassan’s Mr Khoasteep (Quest Star-Dancer’s Quiz) who has hit a purple patch after acquiring its new name, went on to score its fourth consecutive victory in the Nelston Plate. The favourite Ice Rain was the first to take the initiative on top of the straight but was no match when Mr Khoashteep started to gain ground on the outside. The win was very impressive and the 4 year old could be followed till beaten. Ice Rain took the second spot.

Trainer Anupam Sharma and jockey Carlos Henrique teamed up to score a double through Molla and Chitrangada. Molla (Case Law-Okati Okati Okati) won her second successive victory in the Grand Parade Plate. Jumping out well from the outermost draw, Molla got to the front within the first 100 metres of the race. Into the home stretch, Molla came in first with a lead of about two lengths and stretched out easily. Exclusive was ridden out hard to get to the winner but could not match the strides. Kohinoor Revanta warmed up late to beat Exclusive for the second place.

Chitrangada (Ivory Touch-Grand Ceremony) who had been winless even after 14 runs, finally made it to the winner’s enclosure in the higher division of the Singh Plate. Moving steadily from an outward draw, Chitrangada got to the front by the time the field crossed the 1000 metres. Inside the last 200 metres the filly gained momentum and scuttled away to earn her first corn bill. In Reality, Prayer Call and India One filled the frame.

R.H.Sequeira’s Asta La Vista Babe (Hurricane Centre-Herecomesthebabe) surprised everyone with a forward run while sheding her maiden ranks in the Dynamic Dancer Plate. Jockey Kurshad Alam drove the filly to get to the front at start and made every post a winning one. The favourite Noble Honour came up strongly in the last 150 metres but failed to collar Asta La Vista Babe and had to settle for the runner up berth.
