Trainer M.Sathyanarayana leading Rainbow In The Sky (Kurshad Alam Up), winner of The Raja Sitharam Bhupal of Domakhonda Samasthan Memorial Cup

M.Sathyanarayana trained Rainbow In The Sky (Mull Of Kintyre-Dam I’M Gorgeous) put on show, an excellent acceleration, to score an encore in the Raja Sitharam Bhupal of Domakonda Samasthan Memorial Cup, a seven furlongs trip for 3 year old horses, which featured Sunday’s races at Hyderabad. Jockey Kurshad Alam rode the winner. Chocolate Soldier cut the wind in front from the start and brought the field into the home stretch. Rainbow in The Sky was held back in about fifth position till rounding the final bend, moved along the inner fence inside the last 250 metres and stretched out easily. Chocolate Soldier held on to retain the second place in front of Hometown Hero and Power Drive. The favourite Ray of Hope was a disappointing fifth.

Sathyanarayana had earlier in the day saddled Silver Crown (Placerville-Silver Academy) to victory, in the only other trophy race of the day, the Telangana Cup. Five runners were off the gates for this six furlongs dash. Odalis set out in front with Rajkumari close behind and Silver Crown rallying on the outside. Strides of Glory and Oasis Vision were towards the rear. On entering the home stretch, Silver Crown charged to the front and won the race very impressively. Strides of Glory beat the rest to finish second. Rajkumari was third another three lengths behind while Oasis Vision ended up fourth.

Trainer D.Netto saddled a double with Lady Luck and Chal Bhai Chal, to keep the dominance in the trainers’ tally. Jockey A.Imran Khan, who was astride the second named, also piloted Inner Strength to add two to his tally. The 4 year old Lady Luck (Ajaad-Sedgemere) shed her maiden status in the Dark Angel Plate. Settling well in third, behind Airborne Magic and Silver Arnage, till the last 300 metres, Lady Luck picked up speed to surge past the front runners and win convincingly. Symbol of Beauty finished on to be the runner-up, beating Silver Arnage.

The favourite Chal Bhai Chal (Greensmith-Racing Dream) won the last race of the day, the lower division of the Naloma Plate. As the race got to a boil in the last 250 metres, Jewel In The Crown was the first to take the initiative and go past the leader Ponte Verdi. Imran started to work his way on Chal Bhai Chal and the 6 year old galloped strongly to move forward and win by 2 1/2 lengths. Jewel in The Crown was second while Young Sapper and Ponte Verdi filled the frame.

Imran rode S.A.Shehzad Abbas trained Inner Strength (Hurricane State-Integra)to a popular win in the Starsky Plate. As the field of nine came into the straight for the final run, Inner Strength made room between Part Time Lover and Queen’s Necklace in its bid to move forward. The leader Part Time Lover packed up soon and Inner Strength took control early and stayed well to justify the favouritism. Queen’s Necklace finished second while Camacho Speed took the third spot another length away. Victorous Sally was withdrawn before the race.

L.D’Silva trained Garcia Marquez (Quest Star-Friendly Type) won the higher division of the Naloma Plate. Approaching the last 200 metres, Qinghuangdao rushed to the front and was being pressed hard by its rider. Garcia Marquez was in the meanwhile being goaded by J.H.Christopher and the 5 year old got into a rapture inside the last 100 metres to get the better of Qinghuangdao by three parts of a length at the finish. Winning Strides was third. Kohinoor Victory was withdrawn before the race.

The short priced Hidden Power (Mull Of Kintyre-Cozumel) from the stables of M.V.Narayana Rao was taken on a start to finish trip by jockey A.M.Tograllu, in the opener, the Adler Plate. Catalina was in chase all through the straight but the winner kept increasing the margin towards the closing stages and drew away. Skander and Pakat Pakat Pakat finished third and fourth respectively in a close finish with Catalina.
