VIJAYS CONQUER SPRINTS TO A FACILE WIN

Vijays Conquer (A M Tograllu Up), winner of The R.M.Reddy Memorial Cup

Vijays Conquer (Placerville-Queen To Conquer) from the stables of Laxman Singh romped home in the R.M.Reddy Memorial Cup, a six furlongs sprint, which featured the day’s proceedings at Hyderabad on Friday. Four horses lined up for the start and Vijays Conquer, the youngest among them was the firm favourite. Jockey A.M.Tograllu who is having a good run at this centre, took Vijays Conquer to the front at start and made every post a winning one. While the winner stretched out well to extend the margin in the last furlong, Genius Empress managed to beat Alexander Square and Kohinoor Mystic for the second place.

Trainer D.Netto and jockey A.Imran Khan score a treble each on the day while trainer S.A.Shehzad Abbas saddled a double. Imran piloted Abbas’s Cristiano (Don Micheletto-Fleet Footed) to a facile win in the higher division of the Mir Mushtaq Ali Khan Memorial Cup. Ponte Verdi set the pace from the start with Cristiano travelling on its hounches. Inside the last 300 metres, Cristiano made smooth transition to take over the running. The favourite Toli Toli Toli started to move up towards the closing stages but the winner was home and dry. Qinghuangdao and Handsome Hunk finished third and fourth respectively. Star Prospect was withdrawn before the race.

Shehzad and Imran teamed up again to win the lower division with Don Valentino (Don Micheletto-Lansbury). The top weighted Don Valentino got to the lead right from the word ‘go’ and was never in any threat from the others. Audacious moved to be second mid-way up the straight while Sanjaa and Wedding Gift filled the frame.

Imran had earlier in the day guided D.Netto trained public choice, Galiat (Mull of Kintyre-Brazilia), to a thumping win in the lower division of the Perceived Value Plate. Racing a close fourth till the final bend, Galiat rushed in along the inner rails to take charge. Stretching out freely in front, the youngster drew away from the field. Graceland finished second ahead of Golden Flash and Whats Up.

K.S.V.Prasad Raju trained Hometown Hero (Rebuttal-Angarika) justified the favouritism in the higher division. Goldie, who was on a start to finish bid came into the straight first. Equaliser started to put pressure and Hometown Hero began to close up on the outside. Jockey Nilesh Rawal gave a couple of backhanders on Hometown Hero and the grey gelding responded readily and surged ahead. Goldie held on to finish second while Eqauliser was third, close behind.

Netto’s second win came through Lioness Heart (Young Senor-Al Falujah) in the Twin Star Plate. Racing a close third behind Airborne Magic and Star Striker till the top of the straight, Lioness Heart extended easily under Harinder Singh to win by a big margin. Airborne Magic finished second while Star Striker took the third spot. Enrapture was withdrawn before the race.

Ceremonious (Mr.Mellon-Supromene) scored an upset win in the higher division of the Jockey Kavan Kariappa Memorial Cup, to give the trainer D.Netto his third win of the day. Jumping out smartly from the outermost draw, Ceremonious was with the front bunch quickly. As the field rounded the final bend, Ceremonious headed to take control and broke away from the rest. Arudra and Deccan Queen warmed up late to finish a close second and third respectively.

The lower division was won by L.D’Silva trained Grenada (Ace-Superdash) in a four way close finish. Bold Attack was on a start to finish bid with Grenada beginning to close up inside the last 200 metres.Komo Komo Komo and Kohinoor Destiny also came charging towards the closing stages. Grenada managed to pull it off by a neck at the finish to earn its maiden win. Komo Komo Komo flashed on to take the second spot. Kohinoor Destiny got to the money, pushing back Bold Attack to the fourth spot.   

J.Silvester trained Dartos The Muscle (Dark Nile-Success Story) won the higher division of the Ballerina Star Plate, the concluding race of the day. Tracking the leader Kohinoor Adhira till the distance marker, Dartos The Muscle moved forward to take over the running with 100 metres left and held on from the fast finishing Classic Wish. The long time leader Kohinoor Adhira finished third.
