L.V.R.Deshmukh trained Decathlon (Phoenix Tower-Dancerllon) completed a rare hat-trick of ‘Milions’, in the Kr. Rajendra Singh Memorial Golconda Juvenile Million – Gr.3, which featured Sunday’s card of eight races at Hyderabad. With two ‘Million’ races already in its bag, from as many runs, Decathlon was the overwhelming favourite against its three rivals in the race. Santa Monica set out in front from the start, over the seven furlongs trip, with Cristoffe, Looking for Love and Decathlon towing in that order in the first three furlongs of the race. Approaching the final turn, Christoffe and Decathlon made their move together and headed to the front. Decathlon was lugging in when asked to quicken and the rider P.S.Chouhan nursed the youngster well and went ahead to pull off a hat trick. The Bangalore challenger Cristoffe had to settle for the second place.

The combination of Deshmukh and Chouhan completed a double, having won with Vijays Best (Shaniko-Hazel Eyes) in the higher division of the M.C.E.M.E.Rolling Trophy. Shatakshi and Hurricane Dancer fought out in front, exchanging leads till the top of the straight. Vijay’s Best, a handy third all the way, moved with utmost ease on the straight and sailed past to win by a lengthening margin. Ice Lolly rallied late to get to the second position, beating Shatakshi and Hurricane Dancer.

The lower division was bagged by L.D’Silva trained Montpelier (Ad Valorem-Diarshana). The 4 year old defied the 12 points penalty accrued for its earlier win and quickened well to score an encore. Win And Enjoy tried to make every post a winning one but Montpelier picked up acceleration in the last 100 metres to surge past. Mr Glorious and Robust finished third and fourth respectively in a tight finish.

R.H.Sequeira trained Corvette (Burden of Proof-Corsicana) scored a stunning upset in the Umraolal Gupta Memorial Cup. In the front from the word ‘go’, Corvette stretched on the home straight to be clear by almost three lengths over the nearest challenger. Blazing Asian came up fast towards the closing stages, bridging the gap but Corvette went past the winning post by a clear three parts of a length. Melody Queen finished third, ahead of Genius Empress.

The seven year old Over Taker (Sir Bordeaux-Entourage) from trainer Sk. Kassam’s stables, a veteran of 62 runs, won the five furlongs sprint, framed in memory of Jockey B.Madhu Babu. A Horizontal Urge, who was on a start to finish bid, came under pressure from Over Taker inside the last 200 metres. Over Taker took charge 100 metres from home and moved away from A Horizontal Urge, when Krithiman came flying from the rear, covering plenty of ground but eventually failed by a ‘head’ at the wire.

D.Netto trained Silver Cruise (Razeen-Silver Grey) earned her maiden win in the Don Michelleto Plate. Tracking the early leader Exclusive Lady till the top of the straight, the grey, Silver Cruise raised a fluent gallop and surged past with ease when jockey Nilesh Rawal asked the filly for an effort. Exclusive Lady lost the runner-up berth to Nano Pride. Fortunate finished fourth.

The day started off with K.S.V.Prasad Raju trained Fairy Boy (Hymn-Naaina) being ridden to a maiden win by the in form Nilesh Rawal in the Artistic Tribute Plate. Fairy Boy was joined by Jamie on entering the home stretch and the two went stride for stride till the finish with the first named emerging in front by quarter of a length.

K.Satheesh trained Shimmering Ice (Rebuttal-Springbrakemistake) won the Storm Trooper Plate, a six furlongs sprint for maiden three year olds, the concluding race of the day. Jumping out smartly from the gates, Shimmering Ice settled well in second behind the leader Graceland. Shimmering Ice headed past Graceland on the straight to take over the running. Maths Professor came up strongly towards the finish, getting closer with every stride but the winning post came to the rescue of Shimmering Ice, who scraped through by a ‘head’.
