SHEHZAD ABBAS HOGS THE LIMELIGHT ON EXTRA DAY

Trainer S.A.Shehzad Abbas was in the limelight at the extra day’s races on Thursday at Hyderabad, sending out three winners. Roses In Bloom, Hurricane Dancer and Star Value were the victors from the stable, all of them being the popular choices. Hurricane Dancer (Hurricane State-Liberal Dancer) justified the favouritism in the Loose Canyon Plate with a pillar to post victory. Hurricane Dancer went ahead to lead the field at start and came into the final straight with an advantage of over four lengths. On the home stretch, the 4 year old filly kicked on in front under apprentice Kiran Naidu and registered an effortless win. Prince Prashant was finishing on towards the closing stages to take the second spot. Kohinoor Destiny and Attenborough filled the frame.

Roses in Bloom (Multidimensional-Roses in the Snow) won the Blazing Saddles Plate, a seven furlongs race for maiden 3 year olds. Jockey Ch.K.Chary settled the youngster well in second, behind Deal Maker, although he showed eagerness to move ahead. Into the home stretch, Roses In Bloom surged ahead readily when the rider moved his hands and heels and stretched out well. Vocation started to move closer towards the closing stages along the inside but failed to collar the winner by a ‘neck’.

The top weighted Star Value (Diffident-Star Role) scored a facile win in the Canadian Plate. Tracking the leader Dartos The Muscle till the top of the straight, Star Value went ahead on the top of the straight when jockey Imran Khan urged her and stayed well. Midnight Beauty covered plenty of ground from the rear to finish second, ahead of Dartos The Muscle.

Imran Khan had a race earlier, piloted D.Netto trained Key Note (Mr Mellon-Hidden Agenda) to an easy win, in the higher division of the Brahmaputra Plate, to draw level with P.S.Chouhan in the jockey’s tally. Kohinoor Supreme was in the lead from the start with Key Note in chase. Inside the last 300 metres, Key Note moved forward to take over the running and was never in any sort of threat. Ann Arbor, Winning Strides and Rose Queen filled the frame in that order. The only other jockey to complete a double on the day was Ch.K.Chary.

He was up Shamsuddin trained Lady Of Grace (Mr Mellon-Amplitude) in the higher division of the Flag March Plate, the first race of the day. Maintaining a slender lead from the start, with Home Coming and Young Power for company on either side, Lady of Grace picked up momentum inside the last 250 metres to score a maiden win. Break Away was finishing on, to take the second spot ahead of Home Coming.
 
K.V.Srinivas trained Prayer Call (Danehill Star-Chalice), who was winless from 15 races, earned its first win in the lower division. Aaradhya, Emerald Touch, Max Baby and Prayer Call raced in that order till the top of the straight. Prayer Call was pulled out by G.Sai Vamshi and when urged to quicken, the 4 year old took some time but came up well in the last 100 metres to shoot past Emerald Touch. Max Baby and Aaradhya finished third and fourth respectively.

R.H.Sequeira trained Komo Komo Komo (Ivory Touch-Primera) earned its maiden win in the Detroit Plate, in a tight three way finish. Queen’s Necklace was in the lead on the straight with Komo Komo Komo hard at work to raise a gallop. Inside the last 100 metres Komo Komo Komo rallied strongly to go to the front and Camacho Speed came with a final burst of speed from behind. Komo Komo Komo passed the winning post first, a ‘short head’ in front of Camacho Speed. Queen’s Necklace was a quarter lengths adrift in third.

K.S.V.Prasad Raju trained Alberton Star (Royal Gladiator-Naval Guardian) came up with a resolute gallop in the last 150 metres to win the lower division of the Brahmaputra Plate. Ashleen State and Travaldo were engaged in a duel inside the final furlong and the latter surged forward. Alberton Star came with a flourish to wrest the issue 50 metres from home. Ashleen State finished third.
