Vishal Yadav trained Scholar (Placerville-Cambridge) came good in the Tranquility Cup, a 1200 metres sprint for horses rated 60 and above, which featured the extra race day on Tuesday at Mysore. The last time Scholar had seen the winning post was almost three years ago, in April 2010. Racing in about sixth position as the field rounded the final turn, Scholar started to move up gradually and went to the lead in the last 300 metres. Dancing Touch showed some zest in the final furlong but the back breaking weight of 63.5 kilograms proved to be a stopper for the eight year old and had to be content with the runner-up berth. Amazer, who was a bit sluggish at start was finishing on, to take the third spot.

Micheal Eshwer  trained Sofast (Phoenix Tower-Shiseido) romped home in the opener, The Jog Plate, a seven furlongs race for maiden 3 year olds. Having had a lung opener a month ago, wherein the filly had finished third, behind Keturah and Absolute Pleasure, she was the raging hot favourite against the 11 rivals in the race. Sofast was settled in second right from the start while Ace Princess led from the front. As they showed up on the straight for the final 400 metres, jockey D.K.Ashish just niggled his mount Sofast and the daughter of Phoenix Tower stretched out with ease,  to romp home by seven lengths. Ace Princess stayed on in second from Pepper King in a close finish between the two.

Speedy Amigo (Diffident-Abish) from the stables of Dinesh Pujar warded off the late charge of Chinab to win the Hoysala Plate, the concluding race of the day. Speedy Amigo jumped out smartly from an outward draw and quickly headed to the front and set a fast pace, Coming into the last 400 metres, the rider Saddam Hussain started to ride out vigorously to keep the six year old going. Impedimenta, Chinab and Theworldismine were beginning to apply pressure. Chinab closed the gap in the last 50 metres to finish a close second while Theworldismine and Impedimenta finished third and fourth respectively.

S.Rakesh trained Lake of Magic (Royal Kingdom-House On The Hill) scored an encore in the higher division of the Siddaganga Plate defying the 10 points penalty for its earlier win. Lake of Magic got to the fence quickly and raced in about fifth position till the final bend. Rounding the turn, Lake Of Magic found the gap along the rails widening and slipped in along the shortest way to hit the front in the last 300 metres. Lake Of Magic started to veer out inside the final 100 metres. Sun Device started to rally along strongly but the ultimate winner had clinged on to the advantage by half a length at the finish. Rock All and Blues And Royals filled the frame.

T.Natraj trained Flirting King (Alnasr Alwasheek-Habibi) scored its maiden win in the lower division. Winless from 24 runs at the age of 6 years, Flirting King scored a facile victory. Taking off to a good start, Flirting King rushed forward to run a close second behind Amber Star. Passing the 800 metres pole, Flirting King surged to the front and once on the home stretch, kept kicking on. Gris Rapide and Redshift went past the winning post together to finish second and third respectively.

Jockey S.John had to give a hard ride on Pratap Kamath’s Heavenly Divas (Warrshan-Cupof Gold) to stay ahead of Happiness, in the Nagpur Plate. Heavenly Divas had taken charge on top of the home stretch and was travelling well. Happiness, who was racing towards the inner path as they entered the straight, was pulled out and started to devour ground on the extreme outside. Happiness closed the gap at a rapid pace and joined Heavenly Divas at the finish but fell short by a ‘neck’. Mischief finished third in front of Little Athena.

Ranjeet Shinde’s  Queen’s Colour (Brave Act-Kariba) won the Gumbaz Plate. Chantilly Jewel was up in front on a start to finish mission. What A Warrior, after a lethargic beginning was brushed up to be in second, early in the race. Good Shot and Queen’s Colour raced together, close behind the two in front. Into the last 400 metres, made a swift move to take over from Chantilly Jewel and stayed well. Chantilly Jewel held on to finish second while Good Shot took the third spot, ahead of God Is Great.
