The Hyderabad Winter Season officially came to a close on Monday with nine races being run on the day. The end of season awards for the top performers were given away at the end of the day. The curtains will however be drawn on Wednesday, 27th February 2013,with an extra day of races. D.Netto topped the tally among the trainers while the Jockeys’ champioship stretched till the last race of the day. The top two riding talent in this part of the country, P.S.Chouhan and A.Imran Khan shared the honours with their scores level. Both piloted a brace each on the day. Kiran Naidu was the leading jockey claiming allowance.

Dr.M.A.M.Ramaswamy was the leading individual owner. The Estate of Late Mr D Pratap Chander Reddy and Mr Ashish Bajaj rep. Pratap Racecitement Pvt Ltd & M/s Vijay Kumar Gupta and Susheel Kumar, the owners of the popular ‘Pink and Red Stars’ silks, were the leading joint owners. Tintinabulation was declared as the Champion horse while Aerosmith with five wins in the season was adjudged as the Horse of the Season.

Laxman Singh trained Vijay’s Conquer (Placerville-Queen to Conquer) crafted a pillar to post victory in the Prince Mouzam Jah Bahadur Memorial Cup, a 1200 metres sprint for horses in the highest category. The top weighted Proof was withdrawn near the starting gates and the field got reduced to eleven runners. Jockey A.M.Tograllu piloted Vijay’s Conquer to the front from the inner most draw and kept up the pace till the winning post. Indian Epic started to gain ground in the last 150 metres but was lugging in badly and finished second. Days of Thunder took the third spot, ahead of Aphrodisiac. 

K.S.V.Prasad Raju saddled a double through Classic Wish and Aerosmith. Aerosmith (Rebuttal-Shantay) won the Circar Cup. Inside the last 150 metres of the seven furlongs distance, Chal Bhai Chal slipped in along the fence and was looking to pull it off with Imran Khan riding out vigorously. Jockey  S.John brought Aerosmith with a resolute gallop from behind to flash past and win the race. Oasis Vision and Ashwa Shakti filled the frame in that order.

Classic Wish (China Visit-Congratulations) was ridden to a maiden win by P.S.Chouhan in the Gold Sovereign Plate, the first race of the day. Staying a close fourth while Kohinoor Adhira did the running in front, Classic Wish started to make headway inside the last 300 metres and sped past passing the distance post to win by a comfortable margin. Fashionista finished second. Khalis Gold and Jaz Elle finished third and fourth respectively.

Pradeep Chouhan packed a back to back double with S.S.Faisal Hassan schooled Aware (Epicentre-Alero) in the higher division of the Super Brave Plate, a seven furlongs race for maiden 3 year olds. Taken to the front at start by P.S.Chouhan, Aware maintained a steady pace with Concours and Goldie in close attendance. Heading towards the last 400 metres, Aware stepped up momentum and moved away from the rest, to romp home in style. Kohinoor Punch, Midnight In Paris and Ice Barrier filled the frame in that order.

Jockey A.Imran Khan was also at his best and was able to complete a double with Sitting Pretty and Baazigar. Shehzad Abbas trained Sitting Pretty (Imtiyaz-Glorious Beauty) came pounding down the home stretch to overhaul almost a dozen horses to win the Eagle Eye Plate. Montego Bay was up in front as the heads turned for home and Ground Crew was getting stronger inside the final furlong. Sitting Pretty, who was travelling towards the rear as the field approached the distance post, came with a flourish on the extreme outside under Imran Khan to register its maiden win. Montego Bay held on to take the second place ahead of Ground Crew.

Shamsuddin trained Baazigar (Chatham Strait-Rising Tide) was brilliantly ridden by A.Imran Khan to win the Hot Chocolate Plate. This was a hat-trick performance by this youngster from as many runs. Dandelion with P.S.Chouhan astride and Baazigar started to fight out from the top of the straight and pulled away from the rest. It was a treat to watch both the riders giving their best to gain the advantage. Bazzigar heaved forward inside the last 100 metres to be the winner. Nano Belle and Black Bolt moved in late to finish second and third respectively, pushing back Dandelion to the fourth spot. L.D’Silva trained Vocation (Multidimensional-Cacophony) earned its first win in the lower division. Travelling a close third behind the leaders, Over Look and Racing Ahead till the top of the straight, Vocation was ridden by Bangalore based jockey, R.Vaibhav to move forward between the two runners in front and drew away from the field. Flamboyant Star finished second. Most Impressive had originally finished third ahead of Golden Art. An objection by the rider of Golden Art against that of Most Impressive for interference was upheld and the order reversed.

Sweet Candy (Hurricane State-Integral) from the stables of K.Satheesh proved to be the bitter pill to jockey Imran Khan in the lower division of the Pelican Plate. Satakshi was the first to show up on the straight with Imran Khan working his way on the race favourite Hurricane Dance. Sweet Candy in the meanwhile sneaked in between the two and advance ahead to win the race. Hurricane Dancer finished second in front of Satakshi.

Donald Netto trained Power Planet (Epicentre-Classic Award) pulled off a gutsy win in the higher division of the Pelican Plate, the concluding race of the day. The favourite Secret Angel  led all the way from the start and was being ridden out by Chouhan to stay in front, on the final straight. Power Planet got stronger inside the last furlong and sped past the leader. Speed Striker and Mr.Glorious closed up towards the closing stages to finish a close third and fourth respectively.
