SAJJHAA GRABS THE G1 DUBAI DUTY FREE
By Racing Correspondent | 31 Mar 2013 |
Sajjhaa (Silvester De Sousa Up), winner of Dubai Duty Free (Gr.1)
Godolphin’s Sajjhaa, trained by Saeed bin Suroor, won the G1 Dubai Duty Free, to make it four out of four at Meydan Race track. Sajjhaa was well in touch behind the leader Little Mike with the eventual runner-up, The Apache also racing alongside. Into the final run The Apache was the first to make a move and Sajjhaa had to wait for a fraction to get a clear run. Once Silvester spotted an opening that was there by the weakening Little Mike, he guided Sajjhaa to take the split and rushed forward to lead 1 1/2 furlongs out. The Apache finished second 1 3/4 lengths behind the winner while Giofra warmed up late to be third. Sajjhaa stopped the clock at 1:47.93 which erased her own record set in February this year.
"She's improved and improved and she travelled well throughout. To be here on a night like this means everything. It's amazing,"said the winning jockey Silvester De Sousa.
