Trainer Z Darashah leading Bandito (Trevor Patel Up), winner of The Royal Western India Turf Club Ltd. Trophy Div-I

Debutant Bandito (Phoenix Tower-Athymia) from Zareer Darashah’s stables won the higher division of the Royal Western India Turf Club, a six furlongs sprint for 3 year old maiden horses. Carisma and Bandito, the two market leaders in the field started to dispute the lead right from the start and came in to the home stretch together with the former a shade in front. Jockey P.Trevor started to work his way on Bandito and the debutant got stronger inside the final furlong and surge forward to be a comfortable three parts of a length ahead of Carisma at the finish. Black Dragon was third, almost a street behind.

In the lower division of the race, T.Natraj trained Carisa (Home Affairs-Blues Clues) produced a brilliant turn of foot to snatch the race from Princess of Syria on the post. Oscar Sparkler was up in front with the favourite Secret Treasure in chase. Into the last 400 metres Secret Treasure failed to respond to the jockey’s urgings and fell back. In the meanwhile jockey P.Trevor took Princess of Syria and was looking good when Fransisco Fa Da Silva brought Carisa with a flourish in the last 50 metres to win by a short head. Oscar Sparkler finished third while Divine Friendship, which was in contention on entering the straight, filled the frame.

Trainer C.V.G.K.Kishore scored a double winning with God is Great and Greenbro. God is Great (Flitch-Fire Flight) scored its maiden win in the Kinski Plate. Fancied strongly to win the race, God is Great was sent in as the firm favourite with Maverical as the second in demand. Jockey P.Trevor settled well in third while Maverical and its stable companion Peppr raced together in front. Inside the last 300 metres, Trevor asked his mount to quicken and the four year old responded readily to move forward and win by 4 lengths. Maverical finished second, ahead of Wimbeldon Star.

Greenbro (Greensmith-Iquidue) scored an encore in the higher division of the Republican Plate. Prezzie was in the lead as the field showed up on the straight and Yamas quickened well to take charge near the distance post. A last outing winner Greenbro reproduced that run and started to gain ground fast, from the rear. Joining Yamas with a little less than 100metres from home, Greenbro shot ahead after little tussle. Best Move beat Prezzie for the third place.

P.C.Tejaswi trained Sivanta (Mr.Mellon-Marquisa) was the biggest upset of the day, in the lower division. Moving around the field Sivanta improved steadily to be third as they took the final turn. Inside the last 300 metres Sivanta came up strongly to challenge Blues And Royals and drew clear inside the last 50 yards. Queens Colour came in late to finish second, ahead of Huckleberry Finn and Blues And Royals in a close finish among the three.

M.Bobby trained Yakeen (Hurricane State-Excitement) won the Hiriyur Plate comfortably. Going into the race as the favourite, Yakeen raced in about third or fourth till entering the final straight while Chestnut Charmer called the shots. The leader started to shorten its strides inside the last 300 metres and Yakeen came in strongly and moved to the front easily. Wynn finished second while April Showers and Esoterical finished third and fourth respectively.

For the professionals Trainer C.V.G.K.Kishore and jockey P.Trevor scored a double each.
