It was a wet afternoon at Mysore with heavy rains lashing as the day’s races commenced. With a slight let-off in the weather after the third race, the races continued despite resentment by the riding fraternity about the underfoot conditions. With a fresh spell of rain after the sixth race, the stewards of the club decided to cancel the last race of the day citing inclement weather and poor visibility. Although the track was a bit sticky following the rains, racing went on well for the followers of money with three favourites and another well supported contender obliging in the six races that were gone through.

Trainer Zareer Darashah and Jockey Trevor Patel collectively pulled off a popular double on a wet day at Mysore. The promising youngster Artic Rose (Rebuttal - Artic Bride) from the stable won the S.V.Subramaniam Memorial Trophy, the feature of the day. Artic Rose carried the top weight of 61 kilograms to score an encore. Racing in about fourth or fifth along with Ayman till rounding the final bend, Artic Rose made headway widest of the runners in front and passed them with ease. Vrajanandan rallied along the rails to take the second spot ahead of Ayman and Little Athena.

Lad Lady (Razeen - Tarnished Lady) had earlier won the Talakaveri Plate, a seven furlongs trip for horses rated 60 and above. Lad Lady and Demanding Format were the top two market fancies among the nine runners, with both of them nearly sharing the favouritism. Into the home stretch, Demanding Format and Smokin Aces were in a tussle with Time Flies angling for a split. Lad Lady, who was racing in about sixth position till the last 200 metres responded with a terrific burst of speed when jockey Trevor urged her wide of the track to flash past Demanding Format.

The other professional to score a brace of winners was jockey D.Gnaneshwar. He piloted C.D.Monnappa trained Pepper King (Hurricane State - Daily Dance) in the Evita Plate and then wrapped up a chance mount on S.Rakesh’s Money Bay (Mt.Bellewood - Majestic Ceeson) in the Loyal Prince Plate. There was a heavy downpour just before the second race of the day which delayed the start by about twenty minutes. Southern Grackle which was the favourite in the race was withdrawn near the gates after the rider Y.S.Srinath reportedly hurt himself. Pepper King was settled well in about fifth position while Rising Affairs called the shots  followed closely by The Alchemist. Striding into the final run, The Alchemist took over the lead. Pepper King, Beautiful Fin and Chapandas closed up quickly on the leader and Pepper King relishing the wet conditions shot ahead inside the last 100 metres. The Alchemist held on to finish second while Chapandas edged out Beautiful Fin for the third place.

Money Bay won the Loyal Prince Plate sparing over five lengths to the runner-up Big Hero. Big Hero set the pace over the 1800 metres distance with Greenbro in second and Money Bay settled well in third. Approaching the last two furlongs, Gnaneshwar rushed Money Bay to hit the front and drew clear. Big Hero finished second with Formidable taking the third spot three parts of a length behind.

The day started off with Vikram Appachu trained Ace High (Ontario-Indira) making every post a winning one over the 1100 metres scurry in the Shivajinagar Plate. Being a customary front runner, Ace High set out in front and started to kick on when Small Made began to make its bid in the last 300 metres.

Vikram Appachu’s Miss International (International-Hurricane Jane) sprang a surprise in the Whitefield Plate, the sixth race of the day. Born For Beauty was on a start to finish bid. Aerial Acrobat came up strongly to join the leader and as the two started to fight it out Miss International came creeping up with a fluent gallop to shoot past with 100 metres left from the finish. Born For Beauty held on in second place while Aerial Acrobat finished third.

For the professionals Zareer Darashah, Vikram Appachu, P.Trevor and D.Gnaneshwar scored a double each.
