R HANNON & HUGHES OFF TO A FLYING START AT GOODWOOD
By Racing Correspondent | 30 Jul 2013 |
Richard Hannon trained Viewpoint started off with a brilliant win in the Bet365.com Stakes, a nine furlongs handicap for 4 year olds and over. Jockey Richard Hughes rode the 16-1 shot Viewpoint in check, settling last as the field was dispatched. Viewpoint was pulled wide as they came into the last furlong and the son of Exceed And Excel produced a brilliant turn of foot to collar every horse in front and emerge victorious. Nabucco held on as the runner-up by a slender margin from Labarinto.
“The change of ground suited him”, said the trainer Richard Hannon after the race. “He ran on hard ground at Ascot and he didn’t like it at all.”
