Rayan Moore pilots Richard Fahey trained Graswood to victory in the G2 Lennox Stakes
Rayan Moore piloted Richard Fahey trained Garswood to victory in the G2 Lennox Stakes at the Goodwood meeting. Garswood faltered at start and finding short of room was held back in the rear with just one behind while Boom And Bust set a scorching pace. Rayan Moore coaxed Garswood to progress on the wide outside inside the last three furlongs to be up with the bunch in front. Ridden strongly inside the final furlong, Garswood edged out Casper Netscher in a gripping finish. Boom And Bust finished third.
“He got a little bit of interference at the start and so I was further back than I should have been, but he won quite snugly I think,” said the winning jockey Rayan Moore. “He’s quite a heavy horse, so he probably appreciated the ground.”
“We always thought he was a nice horse and he’s not quite the finished article yet, as he’s a big boy who is growing up all the time,” mentioned the trainer Richard Fahey. “It’s a strong statement to make, but he’s definitely a better horse at home than Mayson and we love him. Hopefully, he’ll end up a Group 1 horse and the race I’ve always had in the back of my mind is the G1 Prix de la Foret at Longchamp on Arc day.”
