MOONLIGHT CLOUD DENIES ‘OLYMPIC GLORY’ AT DEAUVILLE
By Racing Correspondent | 13 Aug 2013 |
Invincible Spirit’s 5 year old mare Moonlight Cloud held on by the proverbial whisker to claim the G1Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard - Jacques Le Marois at Deauville racetrack in France. Racing in midfield the Freddy Head trained filly made smooth headway to challenge with two furlongs left and jockey Thierry Jarnet drove her through horses to lead inside the final furlong. Just when things were looking rosy for Moonlight Cloud, came Olympic Glory with a flourish diminishing the lead at a rapid pace but the winning post came to the rescue of Moonlight Cloud. French Derby winner Intello finished third. Declaration of War was fourth ahead of Dawn Approach.
Commenting on the win jockey Thierry Jarnet said,“This is marvelous, as she was unlucky last year and it is great to come back and get it.”
