Champion Star

Champion Star ran true to his name winning the Shri Narsing Raj Memorial Cup, a terms race for four year old horses in category II. Champion Star who was the only horse at this centre to break the minute barrier over five furlongs in winter, bettered his own record set hardly a month back. Trainer M.V.Narayan Rao had every reason to rejoice as this was The Star's fourth consecutive win and he could well go on to be the horse of the season. Dancing Touch with a late dash managed to peg Red Fairy to take the runner up berth.

Jockey Suraj Narredu who had ridden at Kolkata a day earlier was back at Hyderabad to fulfill his engagements with trainer Prasad Raju and the duo combined together to romp home with three winners. Their wins came through Citi Dancer, Bella Coola and Flaming Ruby. Suraj had to work hard on Citi Dancer to win the Sunny Blossom Plate from Canopus. The two had broken away from the pack and a fierce battle ensued in the last 300 metres. Canopus had put his head in front at one stage but Suraj's vigorous pushing saw Citi Dancer settle the issue within the shadow of the winning post.

Their second win came through Bella Coola in the higher division of the Brown Sugar Plate. Going into the race as the firm favourite Bella Coola went past the leader Integer on top of the straight and shook off the late challenge of See You There, quickening well in the last 100 metres. See You There who is lethargic at the gates will see the winning bracket if he improves his gate manners. Yes Es Yes Ses led till the final bend and suddenly fell back after he went lame.

It was an effortless win for Flaming Ruby in the lower division of the Hovercraft Plate. Lucrative was under the stick on the straight and Flaming Ruby who ranged alongside had to be just niggled by Suraj to pick up speed and win comfortably. Debonair covered a lot of ground to finish second ahead of the stable mate Lucrative.

Davenport with a fluent gallop overhauled the stable mate Above the Line midway up the straight to register a comfortable victory in the opener. Mayfair Girl came with a long stretched run to snatch the second place from Above the Line.

Carte Blanche proved to be superior among the ten runners in the lower division of the Brown Sugar Plate. Alcohology picked up speed towards the closing stages to finish second ahead of Dash of Class.

Gnaneshwar rode Shehzad Abbas's Embattled to a popular victory in the lower division of the race, instituted in memory of Jockey Kavan Kariappa. Tigana finished second and there were five horses in a blanket finish for the minor placing with Sugar Lady taking the third spot ahead of Punjab Regiment.

The higher division was bagged by Title Shot who left the entire field cold when she whizzed past in a jiffy to win the race. Lucky Damsel finished second and was the best among the beaten brigade.

The silks of Title Shot repeated the winning performance in the very next race, the higher division of the Hovercraft Plate. This time it was the top weighted Fair Touch from Satyanarayana's yard but the manner of victory was quite similar to that of Title Shot. The long time leader Pretty Fit finished second. Thunder King was permitted to be withdrawn.
