Trainer Faisal Hassan with Owners leading in Monochrome (B.Mukesh up), winner of The Nawab Khaja Moinuddin Khan Memorial Cup

Trainer K.Satheesh who has been having a lean season with just one win to his credit, scored a double, winning both the premier events of the day. With the first jockey of the stable,A.Imran Khan, on a suspension for an earlier infringement, Lakshmikanth and A.Ramana shared the honours with Satheesh. Come Together who had gone down narrowly on the opening day where she finished a close fourth, made amends to win the Nawab Khaja Moinuddin Khan Memorial Cup. Going into the race Come Together was well settled in third behind Zycon and Storm Command, who set the early pace in the five furlong trip. On top of the straight, A.Ramana guided Come Together through the wide gap along the rails and sprinted away for an easy win. Habituated came in late to finish second ahead of the tiring Zycon.

Satheesh had earlier in the day led in Bossei Girl in the P.R.Khade Memorial Cup. Although she had advertised her chances in her previous run, where she finished second behind Vijaysena, over ten furlongs, Bossei Girl was completely ignored in the betting ring with the money following Vijaysena and Vijayam. With an additional two furlongs in her favour, Bossei Girl went pillar to post thwarting the challenge of Danzing in the dying moments of the race.

Monochrome carved a stylish win for trainer Faisal Hassan in the lower division of the Khammam Plate, the concluding race of the day. Jockey Mukesh held back Monochrome, riding her in check till the last 300 metres, wherefrom she unleashed a terrific run with Mukesh just using his hands and heels. Spinthemall finished second with a late run. Amazing Act burst his blood vessels near the 400 metres and later collapsed fifty metres from home.

John was in the limelight on Monday, booting home three winners with some gusty riding. He opened his account in the first race on Deshmukh schooled Vijay’s Angel. King of Court was unlucky again not to have got out of his maiden ranks, getting beat by Vijay’s Angel on the last stride. John had to really work hard on the Angel right from 700 metres and his persistence paid dividends in the end.

The other two wins came through Netto’s Star Favours and Hussler. Star Favours justified the favouritism while claiming the higher division of the Kammam Plate. Getting down to business right from the start, S.John kept at bay Amontillado’s brief challenge. Netto and John went on to score on Hussler in the Elusive Hero Cup. With the benefit of an outing in a mock race a week ago, Hussler, who was sighted in about 8th position as the heads turned for home, improved gradually and although drifted out on the straight, sped past the leader Mayfair Girl and nullified Cannon Treasure’s assault.

Yanamaria won the Democracy Plate convincingly. Practical Physics travelled around the field to finish a faraway second.
