John Gosden trained The Fugue demolished the opposition in the G1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks. Having been a runner-up in the race last year, The Fugue was sent off as the favourite at 2-1. The manner in which the daughter of Dansili routed the field was a treat to the eyes. Tracking the leaders confidently, The Fugue closed in approaching the last 2 furlongs and stretched out effortlessly with the rider William Buick just having to use his hands. Venus De Milo finished second four lengths behind.
“Everybody at home has had so much confidence in her and she showed today how good she is,”sain jockey William Buick said. “She loves this ground, saw the trip out really well and was awesome today.”
