The Smt.Teegala Sulochana Reddy Memorial Cup, a five furlongs scurry for horses rated up to 75, in category II, which featured the day’s card of seven races were run in two divisions. Trainer K.S.V.Prasad Raju wrapped up both the divisions with Days of Thunder and Commanche Gold. Prasad had a profitable day, having led in Hometown Hero earlier in the day, thus completing a treble.

Days Of Thunder (Alnasr Alwasheek-Days of Glory) which had come down considerably in rating, was fancied strongly to win the main event, being sent in as the ‘half money’ favourite against its eight rivals. Showing plenty of speed at start, Days of Thunder rushed along the inner rails to hit the front. Drum Beat was in close attendance till entering the final straight but failed to accelerate when asked for an effort. Speed Striker gained momentum towards the closing stages but Prasad’s filly picked up speed when the rider P.Sai Kumar gave a couple of backhanders and drew away to win by a little over two lengths. Drum Beat finished third ahead of Key Note.

Commanche Gold (Black Cash-Little Cinderella) justified the short price in the lower division. Kohinoor Supreme led the field early, followed closely by Yours Truly. As they came in to the home stretch, Kohinoor Supreme weakened out and Yours Truly surged forward. Commanche Gold rallied strongly from behind to cover over five lengths and race past Yours Truly. Aarohan and Audacious finished third and fourth respectively.

Prasad Raju’s 3 year old grey gelding Hometown Hero (Rebuttal-Angarika) rallied well to win the Nalgonda Plate. Green Bay tried to make it a start to finish affair over the 1400 metres distance. Vijays Grandeour was in chase and Hometown Hero improved to be third as they came into the home stretch. Green Bay continued to kick on along the rails with Vijays Grandeour making a bid in the centre and Hometown Hero getting stronger widest of the three as they passed the distance post. Prasad’s ward stretched out well to win by a little over two lengths while Green Bay finished second from Vijays Grandeour by a slender margin.

S.S.Faisal Hassan trained Lovely Angel (Gaswar-Angel Face) was confidently piloted by apprentice Akshay Kumar to win the Cordon Bleu Plate. Rose Queen set out in front followed by Lovely Angel and Fairy Boy. As they moved into the straight for the final 400 metres, Rose Queen faltered, while Lovely Angel began to quicken on the outside and Fairy Boy making its bid along the rails. Inside the last 300 metres Lovely Angel stepped up pace and travelled better to be back to winning ways. Rainbow in the Sky and Shimmering Ice finished third and fourth respectively.

Bernabeu (Don Micheletto-Blue Spirit) from the stables of Anupam Sharma was ridden to its second success of the season by apprentice K.Mukesh Kumar in the opener, the Star of Stars Cup. Stable companion Symbol of Honour cut the wind followed by Bernabeu about two lengths behind and Mr Glorious in close third. As they came into the final straight, Symbol of Honour extended the lead to over four lengths. Approaching the last 200 metres, the lead diminished with both Bernabeu and Mr Glorious closing up. The well backed favourite Bernabeu forged ahead to win by three parts of a length. Mr.Glorious beat Symbol of Honour for the second place in the shadow of the winning post.

Allianz arena (Puer Madero-Cape Africa) from M.Sathyanarayana’s yard shed her maiden status under apprentice S.Sai Kiran in the Hovercraft Plate. The 4 year old filly set off in front over the five and a half furlongs dash and stretched out impressively inside the last furlong to win by almost five lengths. Goldie chased the winner right from the start and held on to finish second. Rock Heights and Khabza finished third and fourth respectively.

Ananth Vatsalya’s Kohinoor Revanta (Epicentre-Okati Okati Okati), which had registered its maiden win in its 32nd run, reproduced that form to score an encore in the Everest Plate. A small field of four runners took the start in the 2400 metres trip. Nano Tribute whipped around immediately after the start and took no part in the race. Kohinoor Revanta took charge as they headed past the 2000 metres marker. Enigma raced a close second all the way and Khalis Gold trailed another five lengths behind. Into the last 400 metres Enigma started to apply pressure but Kohinoor Revanta accelerated well and drew away to win by over five lengths.
