As they too the turn to enter the home stretch, Days Of Thunder faded out and Vijays Conquer moved quickly to join Odalis and surge ahead. Shamrock Lady (Ace-Sure Future), a good type of filly from the stable, which had not raced for over five months after her trip to Bangalore for the Fillies’ Championship, won the lower division of the Bakranangal Plate, the opener, by a lengthening margin. The filly was quick at start to hit the front, followed closely by Go For Gold and Stolen Date. Musk Melon followed the trio in fourth with the rest behind. Inside the last furlong Shamrock Lady stretched out to win by a good lead of over four lengths. Go For Gold finished second while Stolen Date and Musk Melon filled the frame.

Racing Ahead (Shamardal-Rah Wa), the 3 year old from Deshmukh’s yard with plenty of potential, training for the ensuing classics, won the C.Sathyanarayana Memorial Cup. The gelding which had travelled to Mysore for the Derby was sent in at cramped odds for the mile trip against its five opponents. Sheer Genius headed the field followed by Racing Ahead, Aegis, Vocation, Dark Avenger and Hard Kingdom with the six runners covered within four lengths till approaching the last 600 metres. Sheer Genius held on to the lead till approaching the last 300 metres and from there on Racing Ahead moved effortlessly to take charge and extend the margin of victory. Vocation rallied on to take the second place ahead of Sheer Genius.

The favourite Star Engagement ridden by P.S.Chouhan was up in front from the start with Bound For Glory in close attendance and Golden Adagio racing a close third. As they came into the straight for the final run Bound For Glory moved alongside Star Engagement and the two started to fight out with the latter being relentless. However Bound For Glory travelled better under apprentice Ajit Singh and surged forward. Chayanandan, which was pulled out in the last 100 metres finished on with a flourish to take the second place in a close finish.

L.D’Silva trained Beau Ideal (Don Micheletto-Shades of Beauty) was ridden out strongly by Suraj Narredu to score an encore in the higher division of the Vegavathi Plate, the last race of the day. The 3 year old filly led the field early till passed by Nano Belle and Lovely Angel nearing the 600 metres board. Inside the last 400 metres Nano Belle stepped up the pace and Suraj finding the inner path clear, went for it. Beau Ideal took charge in the last 150 metres and had to be ridden out to stay in front. NanoBelle held on to finish second from the fast finishing Musical Note. Lovely Angel was a close fourth with the first four finishing within half a length.
