L.V.R.Deshmukh trained Laguna Beach (Phoenix Tower-Rio Anna) extended her winning streak to five on the trot. The daughter of Phoenix Tower has won over different distances each time, ranging from a mile up to 2400 metres. Sent in as the ‘money back’ favourite in a field of five horses over the 2200 metres in the Rainbows For Life Plate, Laguna Beach tracked the leader Kianoosh till the final bend. Montauk raced in third, followed by Greek Star and Moment of Roses. As they entered the straight for the final run, Montauk made a swift move to challenge Kianoosh. Jockey P.S.Chouhan on Laguna Beach did not hurry up and brought the filly with a challenge on the outside. Responding well to Chouhan’s urgings, Laguna Beach surged forward to register her fifth straight win.  Kianoosh held on to finish second from the fast finishing Greek Star. Montauk was fourth another three parts of a length behind.

R.H.Sequeira trained Ein Ein Ein (Epicentre-Cannon Glow) came well under apprentice A.K.Pawar to win the Osman Sagar Cup, a five furlongs dash for horses in category III, the feature event of the nine races card on Monday at Hyderabad. Amazing Weapon and the favourite Twinklingofaneye rushed to the front together and disputed the lead till entering the home stretch. Ein Ein Ein which was following the duo started to improve in the last 300 metres and forged ahead with ease. Catherine came in late from behind to finish second, three parts of a length away from the winner. Amazing Weapon and Twinklingofaneye filled the frame in that order.

Baashagar (Kingda Ka-Le Reve) from the stables of Shamsuddin started off its career in an impressive fashion in the Royal Tern Plate. The chestnut colt on debut in the 1000 metres race for 2 year old maiden horses was installed as the firm favourite against its five opponents. Jockey P.S.Chouhan took Baashagar to lead the field early tracked closely by Racing Ikon. As the came in for the final run down the straight, Baashagar continued to travel well and Racing Ikon ran green when asked to quicken. Lopamudra moved in late with a good gallop but could not trouble the winner and finished as the runner-up. Wind Zoom finished a faraway third.

Trainer M.Sathyanarayana teamed up with apprentice Kiran Naidu to complete a double with Aventus and Exclusive Beauty. Aventus which had finished an impressive second to Kallu Mama in its last run, justified the short price in the Golden Dagger Plate. Tracking the front running Kohinoor Thunder till the final bend, Aventus moved well to surge forward and take control. Black Bolt came with a strong challenge in the last 100 metres but failed to collar Aventus by half a length. Aware beat Kohinoor Thunder for the third place.

Exclusive Beauty (Sharp Attack-Golden Castle) scored its maiden win in the Ming Dynasty Plate at nourishing odds of 8-1. Phenomenal Speed Golden Missile and Field Commander came almost in a line as the entered the final two furlongs. Into the last 200 metres Field Commander and the favourite Golden Missile started to fight out as Phenomenal Speed weakened along the rails. Exclusive Beauty shifted left to make a bid in the centre of the track and with a resolute gallop flashed past to get the better of Field Commander by a neck at the wire. The favourite Golden Missile was third another three parts of a length behind.

Well backed favourites won both the divisions of the King Rama Plate. S.S.Faisal Hassan trained Star Engagement (Diffident-Star Board) which has struck form of late won the higher division. A Horizontal Urge set out in front from the word ‘go’ and had a lead of about two lengths from Star Engagement as the turned for home. Jockey A.Aashhad Asbar had to go for his stick to get the 5 year old filly Star Engagement to bridge the gap over the relentless A Horizontal Urge and just about made it by a head in the shadow of the winning post. Cascading Glory was the fastest finishing towards the closing stages, taking the third spot a whisker behind the runner-up.

K.Satheesh trained Ice Rain (Hurricane State-Ardous) lifted the lower division in a close finish where the first four places was covered in just three parts of a length. Garibaldi on a start to finish bid came in first on the home stretch chased strongly by Devils Advocate. Ice Rain improved gradually from fourth position and with a strong challenge surged past with a furlong left from the finish. Smashing Beauty which was travelling towards the rear on top of the straight veered out towards the outer fence when pulled left and with a flying effort finished second, half a length behind the winner. Devil’s Advocate and Chayanandan filled the frame in that order in a close finish.

Ananth Vatsalya trained Kohinoor Blitz (Sharp Attack-Bribe in Prejudice) scored a stunning upset in the higher division of the Hi-Tech Plate, paying a dividend of almost 50-1 on a fiver at the tote. Kohinoor Blitz went to the lead at start and made every post a winning one to give apprentice Kunal Bunde his first win. The favourite Regal Groom tried its best to get to the ‘Blitz’ but just couldn’t match the strides and ended up second. Symbol of Beauty was a close third.

D.Netto trained Stolen Date (Sussex-Hunting Girl) justified the favouritism in the lower division. After a sluggish start losing about two lengths, the filly recovered quickly to be in second behind Golden Adagio.  As they approached the last 800 metres Stolen Date headed to the front and stretched out easily under Akshay Kumar on the straight. Cannon Ten, Crimson Look and Tripple Eight filled the frame in that order.
