The Indo-German Chamber of Commerce day was a memorable day on all counts but the day will be permanently memorable one for one young lady – Nazak Bezan Chinoy. For every professional, his/her first taste of success usually is the best and the heady feeling is etched in memory for life! Theodoros (Juniper – Midsummer Romance) brought that joy for Nazak Chinoy, daughter of veteran trainer Bezan, who himself was beaming with pride as his daughter led in the first winner of her budding career. Nazak’s moment of pride and joy did not come easily or without anxiety. Theodoros settled in the fifth early on as Solid Rock hit the front with Black Partridge and Statjford in close attendance. Black Partridge led the pack homeward, but was soon met by Statjford. Theodoros moved up and picked up momentum to soon take charge. Approaching the distance post, Theodoros quickened for home but Marine Zone started to quicken as well. The last 100 meters grimly fought over by the duo and the challenger just failed to collar the ever-persevering favorite. Theodoros held on bravely to spare a neck at the wire to bag the Powerhouse Easter German Trophy. The other major event of the day was the Bahrain Trophy. Blue Danube (Diffident – Victory And Gold) won as she liked without encountering any resistance. Taking charge as the gates flung open, Blue Danube had Sea Treasure on her haunches all the way up to the straight. Once they turned for home, Blue Danube tore away from the rest and never allowed any rival to get any closer. She won well with supreme authority leaving the field far behind, clocking an impressive 58:65 seconds. Balance De Power (Royal Kingdom – Eternally) won the Nawabzada Rashiduzzafar Khan Trophy with complete disregard to the small field of five. Rococo hit the front with Arkhos and Balance De Power following close behind, with Fiery Fortune and the top weighted Desert Dust racing within two lengths of the leaders. Into the straight, Rococo tried hard to put up a fight, but Balance De Power simply snuffed out the challenge and ran away to post a decisive lead past the distance post. Rococo ended a tame second. Ekhabinskya (Placerville – Moving Image) won the Director General of Police Trophy with surprising ease. Hitting the front soon on start, the Vinay kumar owned filly cut a fast pace and was clearly in front and built on the lead all the way home. Clarion Call went in chase early but could not sustain. Moonstorm and Highland Bounty made ground when it was all over to take the minor slots ahead of Clarion call. The DIG, Mr. SS Virk, presented the trophy to the winner. Daniel Grant stole the limelight riding three winners in the day. He opened the day’s proceedings with a facile victory over money back favorite Desdemona (China Visit – Safari Girl). Desdemona joined the leader Pound Foolish soon on straightening up. The pair tussled for a stride or two before Desdemona accelerated and pulled away to post an impressive victory. Riding Fantasy (China Visit – Deserving Lady) won the fourth race in a closely contested battle. Vencero lead them into the straight where from Moon Flower took over. Moon Flower felt the pressure past the distance post as Riding Rantasy inched her way closer. Grant was patient with the filly and gave her enough time to find her rhythm and once she got into the groove, Riding Fantasy got moon Flower close home and put her neck in front just at the winning post. Tora Bora was hard ridden but could not catch up. Claim To Fame filled the judge’s frame. Grant won the last race of the day storming in from way back to pass the leader and the challengers with complete disdain. Settling in the rear of the mid bunch, Global Spirit (Juniper – Sahara Street) was not in the reckoning till well into the straight. Paris Hilton was in command and a pack of horses were trying hard to tear down her lead. Daffodils, Pomme De Terre, Hidden Danger and Polariser were all busy trying to make a race of it when Global Spirit swooped on them all to storm past every single contender and post a runaway victory. Paris Hilton ran a good second and Daffodils managed to grab the place money. Besides Daniel Grant’s Treble, trainer CD Katrak was the only professional to score a double. The Summer Fest was a great hit for the masses and the elaborate arrangements offered was a welcome change. The carival enclosure was fast filling and by late afternoon, a large crowd was enjoying the various entertainments listed on the agenda. The children in particular had a ball.
