MOVIE MOGHUAL TOPS BOX OFFICE ON DEBUT

L V R Deshmukh trained Movie Moghual (Amadeus Wolf-Mina Girl) made a striking debut to claim the rich purse in the Radheyshyam Jhunjhunwala Memorial Juvenile Million at Hyderabad on Monday. Eight youngsters lined up for the five and a half furlongs terms race for 2 year old maiden horses. Flower Roll Up set out in front while the ‘on money’ favourite Movie Moghual was initially cramped for room and jockey P S Chouhan held him in check towards the rear and gradually began to improve position. Turning for home Movie Moghual was in a striking position and once into the straight forged ahead with authority. Alemeda travelled wide all the way and ended up second ahead of Flower Roll Up.

Followers of money were at the receiving end with only three first favourites obliging in a card of nine races. Trainer L D’Silva was the most successful professional, pulling off a treble through Cheyenne, Queen of the Stars and Ocean Side. The last two named were piloted by Western India rider A Sandesh. Trainer S S Faisal Hassan saddled a double.

Ocean Side (Noverre-Maratha Princess) pulled off an upset in the Mysore Race Club Cup, a seven furlongs race for horses in the highest category. Plenipotent, the highest rated among the nine runners in the race was installed as the favourite at ‘half money’. The 4 year old who was looking for three in a row failed miserably and ended up a tame fourth. Sheer Genius set off on a start to finish mission and brought the field into the home stretch. Chal Bhai Chal was rallying strongly on the outside and Plenipotent failing to accelerate between the two. Ocean Side in about seventh position on top of the straight gathered speed with jockey A Sandesh riding out and weaved through the front runners to get to the wire first. Chal Bhai Chal was second half a length away. Sheer Genius and Plenipotent filled the frame.

Cheyenne (Ace-Desert Lightning) which was winless from 21 starts finally came good to shed its maiden rank in the Palampet Cup. Travelling in about third position behind Looking For Love and Noble Citizen from the start, Cheyenne galloped on the outside and sped past the favourite Noble Citizen and Looking For Love. Energetic Lass came in late from the rear, covering plenty of ground but failed to collar Cheyenne. Looking For Love and Noble Citizen finished third and fourth respectively.

Queen of The Stars (Phoenix Tower-Star Queen) made every post a winning one in the lower division of the Crown Treasure Plate. Aware warmed up late to take the second place, pushing back Ancillary and Deal Maker.

The second in demand Policy Maker (Home Affair-Admiration) from Laxman Singh’s yard which is in fine form completed a hat-trick in the higher division. Chasing the leaders Globetrotter and Nano Belle till entering the straight, Policy Maker spurted readily to take charge under Nirmal Jodha and raced away to spare four lengths to the favourite Magical Spell at the finish.

Trainer S S Faisal Hassan’s double came through Exclusive Lady and Dazzling Empress. Exclusive Lady (Gaswar-Share The Spirit) won the opener, the Solitaire Plate. The favourite Silver Cruise tracked Enigma into the straight and surged forward to take charge. Exclusive Lady started to get stronger inside the last 350 metres and forged ahead in the last 50 metres. Enigma and Fashionista filled the frame in that order.

The speedy Dazzling Empress (Case Law-Access Speed) won its fifth successive start in the higher division of the Classic Style Plate. Taking off well from the gates under Suraj Narredu, Dazzling Princess hit the front instantly and led all the way. Power Planet began to warm up late but didn’t look to trouble the winner and finished second in front of Transition.

The lower division was won by M.Sathyanarayana trained Street Magic (Mathematician-Galway). Apprentice Kiran Naidu took the favourite Street Magic quickly to the front at start. Showing up first about two lengths in front of Pacific Star on top of the straight, Street Magic accelerated the pace and drew clear. Win And Enjoy headed past the weakening Pacific Star to finish second. Sheridan and Star Engagement finished third and fourth respectively.

K.V.Srinivas trained Staminoizd (Oath-Alice Wonder) was ridden out strongly by A Ashhad Asbar to win the division I of the Starry Scene Plate close to the winning post. Dazzling Princess, Amazing Weapon and Kohinoor Desire were involved in a fight to grab the lead as the came into the last 200 metres. Staminoizd which was hemmed up between two horses on top of the straight started to gallop resolutely once the path opened up and came with a flash to get the better of Kohinoor Desire towards the closing stages. Amazing Weapon and Dazzling Princess filled the frame with the first four places covered within one length.
