S.A.Shehzad Abbas trained Carlton (Diffident-Celestrella) scored an encore in an impressive fashion in the Saddle Up Plate a 1200 metres sprint for 3 year old horses. The bay colt was second in demand in the betting while Modern Sniper, another first outing winner garnered the most support to be the favourite. Camborne was speedy at start and hit the front straightaway after the start. Carlton tracked the leader till entering the home stretch at a striking distance. Moving up steadily, Carlton headed past Camborne to take charge inside the last 400 metres. Asshad Asbar kept riding out Carlton to win easily. Modern Sniper could only manage to beat Camborne for the second place.

Jockey A.Ashhad Asbar hogged the limelight, clearing half the day’s card. His other two winners came through Laxman Singh’s Time For Smile in the Member’s Cup and S.S.Faisal Hassan’s Sharp Victor in the concluding race of the day. Trainer Laxman Singh scored a brace, having led in See My Style in the opener.

Laxman Singh’s ward, Time For Smile (Placerville-Diablo’s Secret) came out of its maiden status in the Member’s Cup. The 4 year old bay gelding was quick to hit the front as the gates opened. The favourite Roma Rouge settled well in second along the inner rails. Field Smasher traveled a close third followed by Princess Cruise and the rest. As they came into the last 400 metres, Roma Rouge started to come up with a challenge and jockey A Ashhad Asbar on Time For Smile kept riding out to keep the favourite at bay. Time For Smile succeeded in thwarting Roma Rouge’s bid and hit the winning post three parts of a length ahead. Princess Cruise improved late to finish third, a short head behind the runner-up.

Another of Laxman Singh’s ward, See My Style (Glory of Dancer-Winning Spurs) also earned its maiden win in the lower division of the Next Move Plate, the first race of the day. The 5 year old filly moved well under jockey A.M.Tograllu to take over the running inside the last 400 metres and stretched out easily to extend the lead to six and a half lengths at the finish. Half Moon Bay finished second ahead of Arriviste and Amicable Advisory.

Sharp Victor (Epicentre-Blue Grass Gal), the 7 year old mare from S.S. Faisal Hassan’s stables which had shed its maiden ranks quite late in its career in its previous start, repeated that performance to score an encore in the higher division. A Horizontal Urge was once again in front to lead the field and brought the field into view on the final straight. Sharp Victor, traveling in about fifth position till rounding the bend, moved swiftly to take the gap along the inner rails and sped past the leader. Jockey A.Asshad Asbar kept her going well till the winning post. Khalis Gold just managed to peg back Sterling Finish for the second place.

R.H.Sequeira trained Robust (Sussex-Celestial Dance) galloped resolutely inside the last 250 metres to win the higher division of the Sweet Girl Plate. Robust that had found one better in its last two starts made amends to get back to winning ways.  Racing towards the rear till passing the 600 metres board, Robust made its bid widest of all. The 6 year old made rapid progress under apprentice A.K.Pawar and sped past almost the entire field. Jabel Queen finished second after an maintaining an erratic course on the straight. Drum Beat and Prince of Arabia filled the frame in that order while the favourite Win And Enjoy fared poorly to finish off the board.

M.Srinivas Reddy trained Pacific Star (Hymn-Mazzal) won the lower division of the Sweet Girl Plate in a runaway fashion. Jockey P.Venkat took Pacific Star to the front within the first furlong, came into the home straight with a lead of nearly three lengths and kicked on to win with ease. Wedding Gift, Prince Prashant and Drayton filled the frame in that order.
