Leo D’Silva trained Globetrotter (Arabian Gulf-Trace of Magic) won the Brown Sugar Plate division I, a 1000 metres test of speed for horses in category II. Dandelion started off on a start to finish bid, followed closely by Deal Maker and Bold Attack. Globetrotter raced a close fourth along the fence and jockey A.Sandesh waited patiently for the inner path to open up on top of the straight. Slipping in towards the inside Globetrotter improved towards the leaders even as Deal Maker was getting stronger. The gelding was finding it hard to get to accelerate and Sandesh pulled him left to take the gap between Dandelion and Deal Maker. Globetrotter responded readily with a quick turn of foot in the dying moments to put its neck in front of Deal Maker at the finish. Dandelion was third 1 ½ lengths away.

The lower division was bagged by Donald Netto trained Power Drive (Ajaad-Desert Flame) in an absolving finish. The 4 year old filly improved from fifth position to streak through horses and assumed charge with about 250 metres left from home. Amazon Princess came charging towards Power Drive in the last 50 metres and the lead started to diminish rapidly but failed by a ‘short head’ at the wire. Jockey Kuldeep Singh had ridden out Power Drive to scrape through. Coral Springs and Fair And Square finished third and fourth respectively.

Anupam Sharma trained Symbol of Glory (Hymn-Jalapeno) score her maiden win in the Allez Vite Plate, a five furlongs dash for 3 year old maiden horses. The filly, having finished on board only once in her four starts was sent into the race at longer odds in a field of ten youngsters. The favourite Torremolinos led the field from the start with Altruist racing second about three lengths away. Symbol of Glory was in third position, a further four lengths behind as the started to take the final bend. Inside the last 400 metres Torremolinos weakened and Altruist took charge. Jockey Carlos Henrique started to urge Symbol of Glory strongly and the filly began to bridge the lead at a fast pace and just managed to forge ahead of Altruist close to the winning post. Pour Vous finished third in front of Torremolinos.

Jaz Elle (Rambus-Gil Vernet) from Zoheb Shaikh’s yard whose only win from 32 starts was two years ago was sent in to the Rayalaseema Cup as the favourite among the eleven runners for the mile trip. The six year justified the favouritism with a start to finish mission. After leading the field till the top of the straight with True Friend in close attendance, Jaz Elle stretched out well when the rider Ashhad Asbar urged it and drew away easily. Golden Dash rallied on to finish second while Sharp Victor ended up third.

R.H.Sequeira trained Yksi Yksi Yksi (Opportunist-Romance in Rain) did well to score its maiden win in the Sunny Blossom Plate. Vijays  Grandeour were involved in a keen tussle inside the last furlong when Yksi Yksi Yksi was asked for an effort but began to drift out of the straight course under pressure. Jockey B.Dileep changed his whip to the left to correct the colt’s drift and with a big gallop sped past the two in front. Tamanna just managed to edge out Vijays Grandeour for the second spot.

Trainer Laxman Singh kept his tally ticking with his ward Homely Helo (Diffident-Girl From Ascot) winning the opening event of the day. After a slow jump out and finishing towards the rear in its previous outing, Homely Helo mended its habit and was smartly out of the gates this time. Tracking the leader Guiding Spirit till the top of the straight, the chestnut colt galloped easily to head past and won well. Spirited went past the tiring Guiding Spirit to finish second.

The customary front running A Horizontal Urge (Greensmith-Anntari) from trainer J.Silvester’s stables went to the front at start in the higher division of the Hovercraft Plate and kicked on gamely to give apprentice Deepak Singh his first success. Turf Queen warmed up late to finish second in front of Nirvana.

Jockey A.Ashhad Asbar was the only professional to score a brace of winners. He rode S.S.Faisal Hassan trained Great Guns ( Mr.Mellon-Halos And Horns) to a gutsy win in the lower division. Waiting patiently in about fifth position till the top of the straight, Great Guns rushed through along the fence and grabbed the lead from Tricks Of Gold . Baba’s Gift finished third while The Da Vinci Code ended up fourth after running erratic on the straight.
