Neil Darashah trained Whispering Gallery (Bachelor Duke-Intellectual), who is establishing herself to be a good sprinter won the Kakatiya Million – Grade III, the conspicuous event of Saturday’s races at Hyderabad. The 4 year old Bangalore challenger was installed as the firm favourite against the six opponents. Jockey Suraj Narredu settled Whispering Gallery well to track the early leader Baazigaar. As the field came into the last 400 metres Whispering Gallery stepped up speed and charged ahead. The filly then galloped fluently till the winning post to register a fine win. Vijays Conquer took the shortest way to finish second  while the 7 year old Kohinoor Wish did well to be third another half a length away.

Suraj Narredu had earlier in the day piloted D.Netto trained Rani (Harlington-Saint Parker) to a maiden win in the Perceived Value Plate, a seven furlongs race for 3 year old maiden horses. The filly who was only in her second start made every post a winning one. Rani came into the final straight with a lead of two lengths and stretched out to increase the lead. The favourite Veloz was in chase all through the trip. Ivanova came up along the inner rails to finish third.

Trainer D.Netto who had moved to the top of the table in the trainer’s tally completed a treble with Galiat and Key Note being the other two winners, both ridden by Kuldeep Singh. Galiat (Mull of Kintyre-Brazilia) won the Sardar Mohan Singh Bagga Memorial Cup. Galiat racing in about fifth position till entering the home stretch started to improve approaching the distance post and responding well to Kuldeep’s urgings drew clear from Magical Spell and Azaiba.

Key Note (Mr.Mellon-Hidden Agenda), the oldest at 7 years among the nine runners in the race won the Division II of the Attractress Plate. Rocking Racer and Kianoosh disputed the lead till the top of the straight and Key Note followed them in third about two lengths behind. Inside the last 400 metres Kianoosh surged forward to take charge. Key Note came up with a strong challenge inside the last furlong and forged ahead with 100 metres left from home. Marquise and Flying Dutchman finished third and fourth respectively.

Trainer Anupam Sharma and apprentice K.Mukesh Kumar scored a back to back double with Brahmani and Phenomenal Speed. Brahmani (Hymn-Jukebox) was given a good ride by Mukesh Kumar to win the Division of the Attractress Plate. Bold Attack, Yours Truly and Win And Enjoy raced in that order with Brahmani improving to be fourth as the headed towards the home stretch. Win And Enjoy took over the running inside the last two furlongs and Brahmani with a sustained gallop moved alongside in the last furlong and surged ahead to be a clear two lengths in front at the finish. The favourite Robust finished a tame third. Moment of Roses was a non-starter in the race.

Phenomenal Speed (Sussex-Osprey) dead-heated with the favourite Macintosh (Sharp Attack-Friendly Type), in the Ballerina Star Plate. Guiding Spirit went to the front near the 800 metres board and brought the field till the distance marker. Macintosh and Phenomenal Speed charged to the front together inside the last 200 metres and went stride for stride till the finish. The two were locked together at the wire and a dead-heat was declared after the ‘magic eye’ failed to separate them. Guiding Spirit was third.

T.Srinagesh trained Hard Kingdom (Diffident-Roman Eagle) scored a stunning upset in the R.M.Reddy Memorial Cup, a 1200 metres sprint for horses in the highest category. The speedy Hidden Destiny and Days of Thunder rushed to the front to dispute the lead while Hard Kingdom braced the rear till the top of the straight. Improving through the horses in front Hard Kingdom rushed to the lead inside the last 150 metres and held on to win from the fast finishing Hidden Power and Young Soldier.

The short priced favourite Flamboyant Star (Rebuttal-Go High) from K.Satheesh’s yard won the Twin Star Plate, the first race of the day. Racing a handy fourth along the inner fence till the last 600 metres, Flamboyant Star improved to be third as they turned for home and surged forward to take charge in the last 200 metres and won well. Cheyenne, which did the front running till passed by the favourite rallied on to finish second.

S.S.Faisal Hassan trained Mr.Khoashteep (Quest Star-Dancer’s Quiz) scored an encore in the Division III of the Attractress Plate, the concluding race of the day. The gelding made it an almost start to finish affair. Price Warrior finished second after racing close to Mr.Khoashteep all the way. Green Bay warmed up late to finish third. Ground Crew was withdrawn before the race.
