DARE TO DREAM TRIUMPHS IN THE ALCOCK ARABIAN MILLION

M.Srinivas Reddy schooled Dare To Dream (Oath-Starynessey) won the Alcock Arabian Million, Gr.3 by a staggering eight and a half lengths. This was a hat-trick performance by the son of Oath, having won all its starts. Six youngsters lined up for the Million that was run over seven furlongs. Perceptions was quick to go to the front at start with Rani, Rapidest, Symbol of Glory, Rapidest and Happy Guy racing close behind while the favourite Dare To Dream was held towards the rear early on. Making steady headway Dare To Dream was up in front by the time they approached the last 600 metres. Into the home stretch the bay colt stretched out effortlessly under Imran Chisty. Happy Guy finished second. Rani and Symbol of Glory finished third and fourth respectively.

The Winter Season at Hyderabad came to an end for the purpose of declaring the end of season awards. Trainer Laxman Singh scored a double on the final day to claim the leading trainer’s award with 34 wins. Jockeys A.M.Tograllu and Kuldeep Singh tied for the top honours with 25 winners each. K.Mukesh Kumar was the leading apprentice claiming allowance. 

K.S.V.Prasad Raju trained Rio Rojo (Tejano-Auberge) lifted the Divisio I of the A.P.Raco Horse Owners Cup, the supporting event of the day. Jumping out smartly Rio Rojo fought its way to lead the field from start followed closely by Dazzling Prince. Laguna Beach, Ice Barrier, Winds And Waves and Illustrator were almost in a line as they approached the final bend. Inside the last two furlongs Suraj started to get busy and Rio Rojo stepped up the momentum to establish a lead of over three lengths. Winds And Waves came tearing down in the last 150 metres, bridging the gap at a rapid pace but failed to collar the favourite by three parts of a length. Laguna Beach finished third.  

Laxman Singh trained Black Bolt (Ivory Touch-Negress Doll) which is in rousing form having finished in the money in all its dozen starts won its fourth successive start in the Prince Mouzam Jah Bahadur Memorial Cup. Hidden Destiny and Baazigar disputed the lead till entering the home stretch followed by Mr Khoashteep and Black Bolt. Baazigar rallied strongly to take charge as they came into the last 300 metres. Black Bolt took some time to raise a gallop and once he did there was no stopping the dark bay colt. His turn of foot was brilliant under Deep Shanker while winning by over a length. Young Soldier rallied in late to beat Baazigar for the second place.  

Srinivas Reddy and Imran Chisty had started off the day with a facile win on Angelina (Rebuttal-Angel Wind) in the higher division of the Prince Khartoum Plate, a sprint for three year old maiden horses. Khoshgel was in the lead as they came into the straight with Roma Royal in chase. Angelina racing in about fifth position nearing the final bend was pulled out from the inside and the filly went wide around the turn. Making her bid on the extreme outside Angelina went clear in the last 100 metres. Khoshgel stayed on in second while Symbol of Choice came in late to take the third spot ahead of Undu Undu Undu.

The other race for 3 year old maiden horses was the Royal Prince Plate, run over five furlongs. K.Satheesh’s youngster Ice Cave (Selkirk-West With The Wind) headed to the front within the first 100 metres and never looked back. The filly drew away under Deep Shanker on the straight to win by a lengthening margin. Green Olive was best of the beaten brigade. True Pearl and Rebellion filled the judge’s frame in that order. 

.Christopher piloted M.V.Narayana Rao trained Flower of Temba (Emerald Cat-Cordon Rose) to a gutsy win in the division I of the Patrons Cup. Amazing Weapon led the field with the favourite Ice Rain settled easily in second. Rock Heights raced in third while Flower of Temba a close fourth as the came into the final straight. With about 300 metres left from home Ice Rain surged ahead to take charge and Flower of Temba weaved through to come up with a strong challenge from the outside and with Christopher giving a hard ride the filly forged ahead to spare three quarters of a length at the wire. Nano Dame warmed up late along the rails to be third another half a length away. A Horizontal Urge and Starr king were non-starters in the race.

K.S.V.Prasad Raju trained Chief Executive (Sharp Attack-Executive Angel) completed a hat-trick in the lower division of the A.P.Race Horse Owners Association Cup. Specialist set out in front followed closely by Ace Star and Chief Executive was settled well in third by Suraj Narredu. Rounding the final turn Ace Star stumbled and stopped galloping. Inside the last 400 metres Chief Executive was alighted to the task and the gelding responded readily to move ahead and stretch out easily. Over Shadow was in futile chase all through the last 250 metres to finish second. Silver Cruise ended up third.

Symbol of Honour (Rebuttal-Seattle Swan) from the stables of Anupam Sharma scored an upset in the higher division of the Charon Plate. Jockey C.S.Jodha took Symbol of Honour to the front quickly at start. Leading all the way the filly brought the field into view on the final straight. Win And Enjoy tried to slip in along the fence inside the last 200 metres but the gap narrowed down with Symbol of Honour beginning to shift in. Jockey Imran Chisty then made a move on Win And Enjoy from the outside but failed to catch up with the ultimate winner. Chayanandan flashed on late to finish a close third, pushing back Rajkumar to the fourth spot. Jockey Imran Chisty raised an objection against the winner for tightening him in the last 200 metres. The Stewards overruled the objection.

R.H.Sequeira trained Flying Dutchman (Hurricane State-Integrate) bounced back to winning ways in the lower division. Tracking Bold Attack till the last 350 metres Flying Dutchman forged ahead under apprentice A.K.Pawar and stayed well till the finish. Secret Angel moved to be second inside the last 100 metres and held on there from the fast finishing Maharadhi.

For the professionals trainers K.S.V.Prasad Raju and Sreenivas Reddy, jockeys Suraj Narredu, Imran Chisty and Deep Shanker scored a brace each.
