Mr Geoffrey B Nagpal leading Moussaeif (N S Parmar Up), winner of The Dady Adenwalla Trophy Div-I

Moussaeif, Cezanne Score Maiden Victories in Style Assertive Sandesh Boots Home Trebleof victories The two divisions of the Dady Adenwalla Trophy provided two juvenile fillies, Cezanne and Moussaeif with their first taste of victory, the latter on her debut. While Cezanne was the prime fancy, Mousaeif was at longer odds.

In the upper division of the race, Moussaeif (Alnasr Alwasheek – Flaming Glory) stormed in with a powerful finish to get past more fancied rivals battling it out in the front.  Act of Valour made a nippy start and shot ahead to pile what looked a commanding lead on turning for home. CS Jodha surged further away and was well clear of the rest approaching the final furlong mark. Something Special was hard at work while favourite Spades was toiling to progress. Moussaeif with NS Parmar in the saddle alerted his mount with about 300 to go and started to cover ground at a brisk rate. He easily shot past Something Special and in a powerful final burst zipped past Act of Valour to floor the favourite and bring about her first victory with an impressive turn of foot, clocking under the minute for the scurry.

In the lower division, Cezanne (Cockney Rebel – Blue Missy) scored an emphatic victory improving upon his last start second while scoring a start to finish victory. Cezanne got straight down to business as the gates opened and kept a safe distance ahead all the way to the post. Sweet As Honey tried her best to bridge the gap but failed to make any impact on the winner.

Heatwave (Glory of Dancer – Shockwave) surfaced from the rear to shock Victoria Falls, his closest rival, to snatch the race away, in the shadow of the winning post. Running Sun led them into the straight and bowed out. Knight of Ke led briefly but was quickly pushed back by Victoria Falls, who went charging out in front. Heatwave started to improve positions from the last spot and at the distance post was seen gaining considerable ground past the distance post. Just when it looked that Victoria Falls had it all covered, Heatwave came steam in and collared Victoria Falls to carve out his fourth victory of the season by half-length. Trance, who was in the thick of things in the straight, could not produce any worthwhile gallop and ended a good five lengths behind the pair. Barringo, who was partnered by debutante jockey Yash Narredu ended in the frame.

Ladybird (Camacho – Lady Fabola) was the shortest priced runner on the day at around half-money. The favourite obliged all right, but had to contend with a stubborn effort from Zeda. Zeda had taken charge early in the straight and was going well, galloping gamely and maintaining a handy lead. Ladybird made an al out effort and jockey Akshay started to gain ground in the final furlong. A grim battle followed and in the end, Ladybird managed to surge past Zeda to secure her own maiden victory in a fighting finish to claim the Jimmy Barucha Trophy. The saddle of Ladybird had shifted.

The Rajcoomar Gujadhar Memorial Trophy, one of the regular events of the season, saw an exciting finish as Shining Path and Protector of Paris fighting stride for stride in the homestretch and hitting the wiring together. Favourite Vasco Da Gama looked in distress soon in the straight and went out like a bulb, finishing a detached last. Protector of Paris with Trevor in the saddle battled with Sandesh-ridden Shining Path and pendulum was swaying both sides in the final furlong. Both the riders were in their elements and the fight got hotter in the final 100. Trevor etched out a split second win with tremendous skill with temperament to match. It was a treat to watch two young talented jockeys give it all and produce their best. Trevor just managed to get the bob of the head right on the wire. It was not easy to beat Sandesh in a tight finish admitted Trevor after the race.

Samba Warrior (Carniva Dancer – Ashleen) slipped in through the rails and then switched lanes to get the measure of well-backed Fleetwood Mac to win his first race on his fourth start. Fleetwood Mac had stolen a march soon on turning for home and with Samba Warrior stuck on the inner rails, his task got even tougher. Jockey JH Christopher persisted on the rails and his patience paid off as he could squeeze through a narrow gap and gallop freely once he emerged out of a possible traffic jam. Christopher then switched to the outside and with no threat looming close by, Christopher set about in chase of Fleetwood Mac. Samba Warrior responded to the call and surged forward putting in a fast gallop and they managed to ahead in the last 100 to compile a healthy win.

Essence of Love (Royal Kingdom – Calorescence) kept his date with victory and he was backed as if defeat was out of questions). When Antia trained runners are backed with conviction in such a manner, they seldom fail to oblige. Essence of Love underscored this tenet and Sandesh rode out as one possessed to thwart his rivals one by one. He surged into the lead after chasing Ancient World into the straight. However, Ancient World was not one to give up easily and he stuck alongside Love Essence like a shadow. Ceasarina  then came charging at the favourite but failed to sustain. Thunder Star looked a worthy challenger when he began gaining on the favourite. With less than 100 to go, Thunder Star had too much to do in too little time and with Sandesh being relentless throughout, Thunder Star was contained by Essence of Love, who scored his maiden victory in his seventh start. The concluding race of the day saw Small Treasure put in a big run to sent a bunch of keen opponents packing. Small Treasure (Alnasr Alwasheek – Treasured), ridden by budding jockey SG Prasad, emerged from the bid bunch to make a dramatic appearance in front of the grand stands and storm past at least four runners galloping at full steam towards the winning post.

Bethlehem had a handy lead coming inside the final 400 and with Yardstick and Polar Zone looking in contention it looked a touch ask for anyone to surface from further behind, but not for Small Treasure. The Mansoor Shah ward arrived with gigantic strides and in a trice had accounted for them all and darted away to score his second consecutive victory in an inspiring manner. He left the others in shock with this devastating finish and romped home full of running. Yardstick and Polar Zone took the minor placing and Grand March rose from the rear to improve in the finalstages and do well to take a spot in the frame.

After the last race the solitary Gymkhana race had the crowd stay on witness the 600 m race. The star attraction was Anya Shroff the teenage daughter of super star Pesi Shroff. The crowd cheered her and screamed their best wishes as she left the paddock on to the track. She was astride a mare named Hope and  rode at her best  to hold on by a short head, beating Azul in a tight finish. The crowd gave her a rousing welcome and parents Pesi and Tina Shroff were beaming with pride and joy as congratulatory handshakes poured in from all sides.

For the professionals, jockey A Sandesh finished with a treble, while trainer Antia saddled a double.
