It was a massive haul of 69 Royal Ascot victories for trainer Sir Michael Stoute when Dalakhani’s Integral dominated the proceedings in the G2 Duke of Cambridge Stakes. The filly was sent off the 9-4 favourite for the mile race. Tracking the fast pace, Integral was urged to the front by jockey Ryan Moore approaching the final furlong and the filly edged right and stayed in command till the finish while chipping off 1.71 seconds from the existing track record over the distance. L’Amour de Ma Vie was the runner-up two lengths adrift while Purr Along came from the rear to take the third spot another two lengths away. Last year’s Coronation Stakes winner Sky Lantern finished a tame fifth behind Fiesolana.
“She was always in a great position and traveling,” said the winning trainer Sir Michael Stoute. “She is very straightforward and a good progressive filly. It was a good run in the Dahlia and we knew that she’d come on from that. She’s got a great engine, great speed and she could be effective at less than a mile.”
Commenting on the filly’s performance, the rider Ryan Moore said, “She’s a very talented filly. She came in very late and all she’s done is improve and get more professional. She won well and it went very smoothly. She took me there earlier than I would have liked, but I was running out of horses to follow at that stage.”
