It was another ‘Power’ful day for trainer Edward Lynam at the Royal Ascot, winning the G1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes with Dutch Art’s Slade Power. On a day dominated by favourites, Slade Power sent off as one at 7-2 justified the support with a remarkable win under Wayne Lordan.

Starting off from draw 4 Slade Power headed to the far side along with the chunk of the fourteen runners and settled well in third behind the leaders Astaire and Gordon Lord Byron. Approaching the quarter pole jockey Wayne Lordan rode out Slade Power to take control. Due Diligence and Aljamaaheer bridged the lead that Slade Power had established but could only finish second and third respectively.

Trainer Edward Lynam was over the moon sending in three winners at this year’s Royal Ascot from four runners, Sole Power winning the King’s Stand Stakes and Anthem Alexander wrapping up the Queen Mary earlier.

"Without a doubt it's the best week of my training career," said an ecstatic Lynam. "I'm very lucky to have very good horses, good owners and a good family to back me up, and marvelous staff.” Speaking about the win in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes, he added, "It's been a great week and there's nowhere I love having winners more than here. I knew he'd pull up and I saw a couple flying home but he got there. Because we bred him it's special."
