Mr. Vishal Narendra Bhandari & trainer Pratap Kamath M leading Teri Adah (Arshad Alam Up), winner of The Star Supreme Trophy

Teri Adah (Tejano-Sea Spray) from the stables of Pratap Kamath donkey licked the opposition in the Star Supreme Trophy which featured the compact card of six races on Thursday. Technically it was the filly’s maiden win as she was disqualified after her runaway success in the previous start following a post-race drug after test returning positive.

Teri Adah sent off at cramped odds of 100-45 ‘on’, was smart at the gates to hit the front after fighting for its head with Paris. Leading all the way even as Paris and Silver Oak raced close behind, Teri Adah stepped up the momentum on top of the straight and there was no doubt long way from home about reclaiming her lost pride. Beautiful Effect was the best of the beaten lot. Stride To Success and Coffee Time filled the judge’s frame. Secret Treasure was withdrawn after being troublesome near the gates.

Trainer Pratap Kamath who was under sufferance on Wednesday with three of his trainees ending up as runner-ups, pulled up his socks to bounce back with a treble. His other two winners were La Piperi in the opener and Miyarprincess in the sprint for horses rated 60 and above both ridden by Y.S.Srinath. The first named was a popular choice while the ‘Princess’ turned out to be an upset.

Miyarprincess (Brave Act-Sea Spray) won the Nethravati Plate under jockey Y.S.Srinath. Chasing the leaders Daring Dynamite and Yakeen till the last 300 metres Miyarprincess made its way in-between the duo and surged clear. Yakeen rallied on to finish second. Distant Promise and Daring Dynamite finished third and fourth respectively.

La Piperi started off the day in the Tapathi Plate. Sharp Girl was up in front from the word ‘go’ and had a lead of about two lengths as they came into the last 400 metres. La Piperi galloped well when asked for an effort by Y.S.Srinath to take charge and win. Last outing winner Natural Nine ended up second ahead of Tima Matters and Sharp Girl.

G.Srinivas Babu trained Breezo (Hymn-Colonel’s Dream) who had finished on board in the last two runs was sent off as the firm favourite in the Ganjam Plate. Jockey Ryan Marshall took the 6 year old to the front as the gates opened and led all the way into the straight. Adonis was the only one that looked worthy to be called a ‘challenger’ on the final straight but Breezo still enjoyed a four lengths lead. Marshall’s whip dropped down with 150 metres left in the race and it was then Adonis started to catch up. The lead began to diminish quickly but the winning post came to the rescue of Breezo who managed to hold on by a ‘neck’. Hard to Pin Down was third.

The 8 year old Scholar (Placerville-Cambridge) who had advertised his return to form while finishing second to Beyond Thankful in its last outing two weeks ago was rightly sent off as the favourite in the Girinagara Plate. Racing in mid-field till the top of the straight Scholar readily responded to Keanen Steyn’s urgings and sped past for an easy win. Aanchal Beauty surprised the rest while finishing second. Cash is King and All For Cash filled the frame in that order.

C.V.G.K.Kishore trained Time Flies (Ontario-Ordina) another 8 year old who had lost out on the final stride after leading all the way in its last start made amends in the Bannerghatta Plate the concluding race of the day. This time jockey A.Ashhad Asbar settled Time Flies in mi-field and started to improve position nearing the final bend. Inside the last 300 metres Time Flies was brought to challenge Lads Ability and Tusker and the bay gelding galloped resolutely to settle the issue. Lads Ability and Tusker finished third and fourth respectively.
