Ms.Shriya Reddy, Mr.Vijay Kumar Gupta and trainer L.V.R.Deshmukh leading Tintinnabulation (PS Chouhan Up), winner of The Nizam's Gold Cup (Gr.2)

The local hero Tintinnabulation (Intikhab-Tourmalet) won the Nizam’s Gold Cup Gr.2, a terms race, run over 2000 metres for horses 4 years old and upward. The bay gelding from L.V.R.Deshmukh’s stables, ridden by P.S.Chouhad stopped the clock at 2:03.91 Secs., thus breaking the existing record that stood in the name of Icebreaker. Incidentally Icebreaker had set the record in the same race in the year 2009.

Super Storm started off in front to lead the field followed by Charlatan, Vijay’s Champ, Always Bullish, Arrogant Approach, Tintinnabulation and Striking in that order which was almost the same till the last 600 metres. Inside the last 400 metres P.S.Chouhan brought Tintinnabulation with a quick run to challenge Super Storm and Charlatan. The ‘Champ’ took charge with a furlong left from the finish and stretched out well. Striking began to gain ground from the rear rather late and started to bridge the gap but Tintinnabulation had passed the winning post comfortably, sparing three parts of a length. Arrogant Approach was third another two lengths away while Super Storm who called the shots till the top of the straight ended up fourth.

Donald Netto trained Rahul’s Diamond (Black Cash-Czarina) won the P.R.Khade Memorial Cup from the favourite Greek Star in a scintillating finish and got the verdict approved by the Stewards following an objection raised by the runner-up. The top weighted Aventus rushed to the lead as the field came in on the home stretch.  Rahul’s Diamond, a slow starter in its last outing took a good jump this time and was well with the group in front all the way. Inside the last 2200 metres Rahul’s Diamond started to gain ground from the outside and Greek Star also made a strong bid. The two drew away from the rest and fought out the last 100 metres with Greek Star inching closer but Kuldeep Singh and Rahul’s Diamond scrambled home by a ‘short head’. P.S.Chouhan, the rider of Greek Star lodged an objection against the rider of the winner and that was overruled by the Stewards after reviewing the race.

Ray of Hope (Mull of Kintyre-Ahliya) from the stables of Laxman Singh bounced back to winning ways I the Democracy Plate. The 4 year old filly, a hat-trick performer during winter last had not raced for the last eight months. Sent off as the favourite at 6-4 the filly raced in second all the way till the top of the straight while Kianoosh called the shots, a clear three lengths in front. As they came into the last 400 metres jockey P.S.Chouhan rushed with Ray of Hope to grab the lead and stayed well till the finish. Princess Cruise was hard at work to collar the winner in the last furlong but had to settle for the runner-up berth while Ice Barrier ran on to be third.

Trainer M.Srinivas Reddy and apprentice S.S.Tanwar teamed up to bag a double through lesser fancied Enigma and Macintosh. Enigma (Epicentre-Svetlana) won the Donegal Plate. Kohinoor Revanta tried a start to finish bid over the 1800 metres trip followed closely by Moghul Emperor. Enigma raced in third close to the fence till entering the straight. With two furlongs left, apprentice S S Tanwar pulled out Enigma to make a run from the outside and the filly raised a fluent gallop to head past the leader and stretch out. Kohinoor Revanta gallantly held on to the second place from the late finishing Silver Cruise.

Macintosh (Sharp Attack-Friendly Type) wrapped up the Elusive Hero Cup. Mount Titlis set out in front from the word ‘go’ and came into the final straight with a lead of nearly three lengths. Macintosh in the centre and Graceland from the outside started to close up with their riders making a determined effort and the three were almost in a line with about fifty metres left from the wire. Macintosh stretched well to seize the lead in the dying moments and held on from Graceland. Mount Titlis finished third ahead of the late finishing Nano Dame taking the fourth spot. The first four places were covered in one length.

S.S.Faisal Hassan’s youngster Panachecorn (China Visit-Da Vinci Rose) who had won only on debut in its seven starts made every post a winning one in the Khammam Plate, the opener of the day. The short priced favourite Vijay Vidyut came under pressure when asked for an effort on the straight and finished on to be second.

K.S.V.Prasad Raju trained Golden Adagio which had won only once in 54 starts came good to pull it off in the Subramanya Bharati Plate. Silver Arnage and Golden Adagio raced together well in front of the rest right from the start. Inside the last 200 metres Golden Adagio moved ahead with a sustained effort and kicked on to the winning post. Classic Emerald rallied on to finish second. Silver Arnage and Colourful Trip finished third and fourth respectively, with a ‘short- head’ separating them.
