TAPESTRY BRINGS TO A HALT TAGHROODA’S WINNING STREAK

By Racing Correspondent | 23 Aug 2014 |

Aidan O’Brien trained Tapestry caused a flutter while downing the unbeaten Taghrooda in the G1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks at York. Taghrooda was the 1-5 favourite to extend her unbeaten winning run to five at York but the Galileo filly upset the party with a stunning half length victory.

Taghrooda settled well in fifth early while Richard Hughes took Volume on a steady pace. Tapestry settled off the pace by Ryan Moore in the rear. Taghrooda improved well to take the lead with 2 ½ furlongs left and was looking to wrap it up easily when Rayan Moore brought Tapestry with a stunning gallop to bridge that gap and shhot ahead to be half a length in front at the finish. Tasaday was third another seven lengths behind.

“She’s a very high-class filly and this set up nicely for her,” said jockey Ryan Moore. “She traveled sweetly and toughed it out well. They are two very good fillies and I wouldn’t say that the runner-up lost anything in defeat there.”
