Michael Tabor owned Gleneagles had gone past the winning post first in the G1 Qatar Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere but was relegated to the third position following a steward’s enquiry.  Full Mast who had finished second by half a length was awarded the race and Territories promoted to be the runner-up.

Full Mast tracked the leader early and challenged strongly with two furlongs left from home and soon led. The lead was short lived as Gleneagles forged ahead from the outside. Nearing the closing stages Gleneagles edged right leaning over Full Mast who in turn took Territories’s ground. A Steward’s enquiry ensued and Gleneagles was relegated to the third place.

"They gave me the race,” said Criquette Head-Maarek, trainer of Full Mast. “I wasn't surprised when I looked at the film because he hung on me and then I hung into the third horse. We didn't claim [object] because Prince Khalid doesn't do that. I think he will make a very good three-year-old next year but he is still a bit babyish."
