Trainer M Bobby leading Visionist (A Ramu Up), winner of The Chief Minister's Trophy

Visionist (Warrshan-Star Profile / Ruia Stud) from the stables of Micheal Bobby won the Chief Minister’s Trophy in an impressive fashion.  The last time Visionist won a race was exactly a year ago when he raced on this track for the first time after moving down from Western India. Jockey A.Ramu who is riding with absolute confidence this season rode a perfect race on Visionist.

Sweet Secret set the ball rolling in her customary fashion and Visionist was held back well to chase the leader. On entering the final straight Visionist moved alongside Sweet Secret and forged ahead without much fuss as they headed past the 400 metres board. Stretching out well Visionist was never in any danger and won by a good margin of 4 ¼ lengths. Commanding Heights galloped late to snatch the second place from Sweet Secret on the post. Wind of Soul finished fourth while the fancied Bourbon Street ran listlessly. Alizadeh was a non-starter in the race.

J.S.Pillay trained Dream Star (Stardan-Dream Traveller / Rolli Stud) justified the rush of money to shed her maiden status in the Usha Balram Trophy. Sancy set out in front, joined by Dream Star and Mandarin. The three ran together till into the home stretch and at one stage looked like heading for a three way finish. Dream Star quickened well between horses to take charge and won warding off from Mandarin. Our Little Dragon rallied to take the third spot from the tiring Sancy. She’s Stunning was a non-starter in the race.

Trainer Prasanna Kumar who has a relatively small string of horses under his care is known to pull out some ‘good ones’. The horses from his yard those who come in the betting rarely get beat. Kimora (Princely Heir-Star Selection / Hargobind Stud) was one such ‘rabbit’ that he pulled out from his hat. Kimora was sent off as the favourite in thewww.racingpulse.in Website Trophy at 9-4 with Suezy Oh and Seven of Hearts also receiving strong support. Kimora led the field early for about a furlong and then fell back to be second behind Too Cold to Hold. Passing the half-way stage the filly dropped back further along the rails to about seventh position. As they traversed the turn jockey Arshad Alam in a very swift action brought Kimora from around the front runners and was well up to challenge Suzy Oh on top of the straight. Surging forward readily, Kimora spared a length and a half at the finish to Suzy Oh. Always on Top and Extra Spark filled the judge’s frame.

Feroz Khan trained Galaxy Queen (Mull of Kintyre-Premier Galaxy / Capricon Stud) score an authoritative win in the division I of the W.T.Craig-Jones Memorial Trophy. Accuracy went to the front to lead within the first furlong and had a three lengths lead entering the final straight. Galaxy Queen who was racing in about fourth position, all the way behind Cool Baby and Color Me, was brought from the outside by jockey Shobhan Babu.to make her bid. The filly responded instantly to her rider’s command and sped past the front runners to win comfortably. Accuracy held on to the second place from Yellowzone and Cool Baby in a close finish.

J.S.Dhariwal trained Saltoro Ridge (Burden of Proof-Indian Mission / Kunigal Stud) scored an encore in the lower division. The 3 year old colt who had won a maidens’ sprint in his last start at Bangalore was installed as the overwhelming favourite at 75-100 after the withdrawal of Majestic Opinion on veterinary grounds. Soltoro Ridge moved around Oscar Sparkler and Queen as they too the final turn to make its bid. Inside the last 400 metres Queen surged to the lead being strongly challenged by Soltoro Ridge. Queen kept Soltoro Ridge engaged till the last 100 metres and then conceded the fight. Robinhood Pandey was finishing on to be third ahead of Spiritual Blue.

Micheal Eshwer schooled Glorious Light (Arabian Gulf-Strasbourg / Manjri Stud) picked up her maiden win in the Chirapunji Plate, the opener of the day. The 3 year old filly carrying the top weight of 62.5 kilograms headed to the front easily as the gates opened. As they began to round the final turn Glorious Light was still in the lead with Jazzbythebay being the only one looking to be the challenger. With 300 metres left from the wire Jazzbythebay inched closer and Glorious Light was then alerted by jockey Y.S.Srinath to kick on by a length and a quarter.

Crown Emperor (Burden of Proof-Crown Treasure / Kunigal Stud) from trainer G.Nithyanand’s stables earned its maiden win in its eleventh start in the higher division of the Autumn Blue Plate. The 4 year old bay colt was taken to the front early by jockey V.R.Jagdeesh and racing close to the fence drew clear unchallenged on the straight. Sunday Cruz followed the winner all the way to finish second. Big Copper Penny and Silver Oak finished third and fourth respectively. The favourite Astrum was never in the hunt and took a lot of money with it while finishing fifth.

The favourite Pride N Glory (Burden of Proof-Chiliandrina / Kunigal Stud) from the stables of G.Aravind was driven to a hard earned victory in the lower division. The gelding has missed the start badly and looked to be a lost cause initially. Jockey S.John brushed up with the Even money favourite quickly to run fourth as they neared the last 600 metres. On the straight Julius on a start to finish bid was being challenged by Supreme Strength. Finding the duo in front fighting, John rode Pride N Glory towards the inner ground and with a determined effort headed past the relentless Julius and stayed well to win by half a length, much to the relief of its supporters.

P.C.Tejaswi trained Precept (Juniper-Takwim / Capricon Stud) was the surprise in the Lalithamahal Plate, the concluding race of the day. Aanchal Beauty got to the front early and led till inside the final furlong. Precept who was in chase till the top of the straight started to gain ground inside the last 150 metres and raced ahead to wrap it off. Time Flies and Miss International finished second and third respectively in a close finish. The long-time leader Aanchal Beauty finished fourth.
