Trainer K Satheesh leading Snow Bird (K Anil Up), winner of The A P Race Horse Owners Association Trophy

K.Satheesh trained Snow Bird (Oath-X Factor / Pratap Stud) put in a scintillating gallop inside the last furlong to clinch the A.P.Race Horse Owners Association Trophy, the feature event of Monday’s races at Hyderabad. Snow Bird who has proved her ability over distances ranging from 1100 metres upto 12 furlongs, was sent off as the second in demand at 3-1 for the mile trip, with Deshmukh trainee Super Duper enjoying the favouritism. Tejaswini went to the front within the first 100 metres to lead the field. Following the leader were Ocean Side, Super Duper, Snow Bird, Qinghuandao and Vijaykeerti in that order as they headed past the half-way mark. Tejaswini came in first on the home stretch but that was short lived as Super Duper forged ahead to take charge. Snow Bird who was always on the haunches of Super Duper was put into top gear by jockey K.Anil from the outside and the filly moved with a terrific turn of foot to breeze past and score an encore. Qinghuangdao finished third in front of Tejaswini.

Big Mac (Ajaad-Majestic Rock) from trainer D.Netto’s stables was ridden out by P.Sai Kumar to win the Smt.C.Mohana Kumari Sathyanarayana Memorial Cup. Silver Arnage led the field from the start and the top weighted Glorious View had settled well to track the leader. On entering the straight Glorious View took over the running.  Exclusive tried to challenge from the outside and Big Mac making its bid from the extreme outside.  With about 150 metres left from the wire it looked to be a fight between Glorious View and Big Mac but the latter quickened resolutely to surge forward by a length at the finish. Gloriou View held on to the second place from a fast finishing Maid For Love. Jaz Elle rallied along the rails to fill the frame while Symbol of Beauty on whom there was a rush of money was never sighted in the fighting line up.

M.Srinivas Reddy trained Greek Star (Sedgefield-Maid of The Mist) who is in rousing form this monsoon picked up its third win from four starts, having missed the other one to Rahul’s Diamond by a whisker. Greek Star was sent off as the favourite at 13-10 tracked the leader Rio Rojo till entering the last 400 metres in the S.Rangarajan Memorial Cup. Jockey P.S.Chouhan had to give a couple of hard cracks to remind Greek Star of the task and the 4 year old picked up momentum to head past and stretch out well. Santa Monica finished ahead of Rio Rojo to be the runner-up.

Vijay Viraaj (Jeremy-Linette) from the stables of L.V.R.Deshmukh won the P.Anthony Memorial Plate. Smartly out of draw eight, Vijay Viraaj quickly headed towards the inner rails and settled well in second behind Roma Royal. Inside the last two furlongs Vijay Viraaj forged to the front and with jockey P.S.Chouhan riding out, denied the race favourite Dance to Destiny a fourth successive victory. C Eleven finished third, a length further behind.

Laxman Singh trained Vijays Victory (Placerville-Dementieva) was the only one not to have won a race among the six horses in the Tick Tock Plate. The 5 year old gelding led the field from the start and as they galloped down the straight, stretched out to increase the leeway and left the rest of them to fight for the minor places. Light Blue Sky after chasing the winner on the straight finished second ahead of Amazing Power. Field Smasher ended up fourth.

My Star –Ex Any Given Time (Rebuttal-Ganga Purna / Hazara Stud), from the stables of S.S.Faisal Hassan’s yard won the Scintillating Plate. The 5 year old gelding which had started its career well with a win in the HDIL Juvenile Million in just its second start had failed to make a mark since then in 27 starts. My Star raced in about fifth early, with Exclusive Lady leading the field followed by Winjoy and Jaden Gil. As the galloped towards the last 400 metres the favourite Winjoy forged ahead but was soon passed by My Star from the outside. Jockey S.John rode a well judged race on My Star to surge ahead of the favourite with a furlong left. Jaden Gill finished third.

M.Srinivas Reddy trained Angelina (Rebuttal-Angel Wind / Hazara Stud) got the race in the Steward’s room after finishing second to the hot favourite Symbol of Choice in the lower division of the Loyal Prince Plate. Symbol of Choice was in front right from the start followed closely by Angelina. From the top of the straight Symbol of Choice started to drift out of the straight course alarmingly and taking out Angelina along with her. Jockey Arvind Joshi checked Angelina to change course towards the inner path with about 100 metres left from the finish but the damage was already done and finished on in second. Joshi lodged an objection against C.S.Jodha, the rider of Symbol of Choice for severe interference and that was upheld by the Stewards. The order of placing was reversed with Angelina being declared the winner. Sea Change was third many lengths behind.

Sk Kassam trained Green Olive (Sussex-Sara Jahan) which was winless from thirteen starts came good to win the higher division of the Loyal Prince Plate. Inside the last 300 metres Symbol of Glory closest to the fence was joined by Dazzling Princess. Green Olive also improved well from the outside to join the fight and travelled the best to spare half a length to Symbol of Glory at the wire. Regal Groom rallied on to finish third in front of Dazzling Princess.

For the professionals trainer M.Srinivas Reddy and jockey P.S.Chouhan scored a double each.
