Trainer Rajesh Narredu leading Accuracy (Saddam Hussain Up), winner of The J.K.Van Ingen Memorial Trophy

Rajesh Narredu trained Accuracy (Carnival Dancer-Aracruz /  Dashmesh Stud) clinched the J.K.Van Ingen Memorial Trophy, the feature event of Thursday’s races at Mysore. The 4 year old chestnut colt had indicated its return to form while finishing second to Galaxy Queen two weeks ago and was rightly installed as the favourite among the eight runners for the seven furlongs trip. Jockey Saddam Hussain pushed Accuracy to get to the lead quickly after the start and was never headed thereafter. Entering the straight Accuracy had a sizable leeway of almost three lengths and kept up that momentum to carry that lead till the winning post unchallenged. Cool Approach beat the rest to be second while Native Indian finished in the money ahead of Atlas Power.

G.Nithyanand trained Cinch (Burden of Proof-Polenta / Kunigal Stud) showed tremendous improvement in form to down Son of Stars in the Margrove Estate Trophy. Into the home stretch Son of Stars was in front joined by Cinch. The two started to battle it out having drawn away from the rest. The 14 points penalty imposed for its second successive win last time began to tell on Son of Stars and he started to crumble even as Cinch forged ahead from the outside. Breezo who reported to have returned lame on left hind took the third spot. Well fancied Shrewd Master was planted at the gates and was out of steam as they neared the final bend after being brushed up.

Anmol Hira (Hurricane Center-Monmore / Singh Stud) from the stables of Samar Singh moved with giant strides inside the last 100 metres to flash through horses and justify the strong support in the Hotel R R R Trophy. Sent off as the favourite at 14-10, Anmol Hira raced in third position all the way behind Stimulator and Intensive Act. Into the last furlong Stimulator was being relentless and Interactive getting stronger from the outside. Jockey A.Ramu kept riding out Anmol Hira and the 4 year old accelerated in terrific fashion to streak between horses and wrap it off. Interactive finished a notable second. Raaga ended up third in front of the long-time leader Stimulator.

Jockey A.Ramu who has had the best season ever had earlier in the day ridden Amit Cady trained Ordered Steps (New Famous-Waves of Beauty / Yeravada Stud) to victory in the lower division of the Hotel R R R Trophy. It was yet another pillar to post win for Ordered Steps. Bowling around merrily in front from the start Ordered Steps had a clear two lengths advantage on top of the straight. Sunday Cruz started to come up with a challenge approaching the distance post but Amit’s 5 year old quickened readily to stretch out by two lengths. Aero Star just managed to snatch the second place from Sunday Cruz on the post.

Trainer C.D.Monnappa had another good day in office, packing off a back-to-back double with Samajdaar and Miss International. Both of them were ridden by his indentured jockey A.Vishwanath. Samajdaar (San Fransisco-Star Class / Doaba Stud), a winner of its previous start two weeks ago galloped resolutely inside the last 250 metres to score an encore. Samajdaar was the smartest out of the gates and then settled behind in seventh when half a dozen horses rushed towards the front. Inside the last 300 metres Samajdaar surged forward under A.Vishwanath with ease to grab the lead and was a clear two lengths ahead at the finish. Fashion Flame came in late after encountering traffic snarls to take the second spot. Tic Tac Toe was third.

Miss International (International-Hurricane Jane / Mebajeona Stud) won the higher division of the Nyveli Plate. The 6 year old Miss International having made it to the board in all its nine starts moved with a fluent gallop inside the last furlong to beat the favourite Time Flies by half a length. Well backed Snow Angel rallied on to take the third place.

J.S.Pillay trained Somerset Rose (Serious Spender-Somerset / Kunigal Stud) won the opener, the Mulki Plate. Flirting King moved around the horses in front and took charge on entering the straight. Somerset Rose racing in second was pulled out to make a bid and the 6 year old responded to Irvan Singh’s urgings to pick up speed and score her maiden win. Flirting King lost out by a neck to finish second. Somerset Rose was third.

Ranjeet Shinde trained Supreme (Burden of Proof-Supervite / Kunigal Stud) scored a runaway victory in the lower division of the Nyveli Plate, the concluding race of the day. Aanchal Beauty moved around the field from an outward draw and headed to lead the field early in its customary fashion and held forte till approaching the distance post. Supreme had improved gradually along the fence and with a furlong left from the finish surged past Aanchal Beauty and drew away to win by a lengthening margin. Carisa came up late from the rear to be the best of the beaten brigade. Born For Passion finished third while Precept, on whom there was a flood of money coming by to wind up as the favourite was never in the hunt and finished fourth.

For the professionals trainer C.D.Monnappa saddled a double while jockeys A.Vishwanath, A.Ramu and Irvan Singh scored a brace each.
