R.H.Sequeira schooled Un Un Un (Duja-Serious Trouble) scored its fourth successive win in an impressive fashion in the M L N Reddy Memorial Cup, the main event of Monday’s races at Hyderabad. The youngster who has reached the highest Category in a short span of six starts was being tested over five furlongs for the first time. Jumping out smartly from an outward draw, Un Un Un moved quickly towards the fence to head past the early leaders Shamrock Lady and Ray of Light. Out in front within the first 150 metres Un Un Un extended the lead to almost four lengths on entering the straight. Jockey M Madhu Babu kept pushing the favourite and the bay colt kicked on gamely till the winning post. Ray of Light and Queen of The Stars covered ground in the last furlong but the winner was home and dry without much fuss and they had to finish second and third respectively.

Trainer L.V.R.Deshmukh who has a good string of youngsters under his tutelage this season picked up the Youngsters plate with Vijays Joy (Stern Opinion-Jia Yoh Jia Yoh). The grey colt took off well from the gates to hit the front and made it a start to finish affair. The first timer stretched out effortlessly on the final straight to extend the lead to 9 ½ lengths with jockey P.S.Chouhan having little work on the saddle. Escalante beat the rest to take the second place while Lucy Oh ended up third another three lengths away. Kalinda was a non-starter in the race.

Deshmukh and Chouhan had in the first race of the day emerged clear with Vijay Vaishnavee (Yeats-Bright Hope) to log in their double for the day. The filly raced towards the rear early, made progress gradually always along the inner rails to get to the second position as they neared the last 600 metres, behind Reflections. As they traversed the bend Vijay Vaishnavee was pushed by P.S.Chouhan to head past Reflections and once in front the filly stretched out well to extend the margin of victory. The ‘odds on’ favourite Wolverton just managed to peg back the tiring Reflections to occupy the second place.

K.S.V.Prasad Raju trained Go For Gold (Rebuttal-Noorain), a 15-1 shot caused a flutter while edging out the piping hot favourite Vijay Viraaj in the Democracy Plate. Go For Gold showed plenty of speed at start to hit the front quickly. Modern Sniper gave company till the top of the straight and faded out. The hot favourite Vijay Viraaj with P.S.Chouhan astride racing a handy third began to get up to the leader but started to hang in badly. With a furlong left Vijay Viraaj looked to be travelling the better as the two fought on but jockey Nilesh Rawal continued to push Go For Gold hard and the filly did go for Gold, necking out Vijay Viraaj close to the finish. Yours Truly finished a faraway third. Green Jewel was withdrawn after being troublesome inside the gates.

Parushram (Equitable-Knight Vision) owned and trained by Donald Netto completed a fine hat-trick in the Grand Entry Plate. The 3 year old bay gelding tracked the early leader Roma Rouge till entering the straight and in a smooth transition took it up with about 300 metres left from the finish. Golden Essence and Lopamudra started to apply pressure inside the final furlong but just couldn’t catch the winner and finished second and third respectively.

Anupam Sharma’s 4 year old filly Military Belle (Oath-She’s Hip) scored her maiden victory in the higher division of the Deccan Star Cup. The filly raced in close attendance with Exclusive Beauty in the lead. Entering the home stretch Military Belle started to improve from the outside but Exclusive LBeauty began to shift out of the straight course. Apprentice Akshay Kumar quickly pulled Military Belle to the right to opt for the inner path and the filly galloped well to draw away easily. Coral Springs raced on the wide outside to finish third.

Trainer Laxman Singh wrapped off both the divisions of the Adolfito Plate, an 1100 metres dash for 3 years and upward maiden horses.  Salbatore (C P West-Samarinda) was a facile winner in the higher division. Racing Ikon led the field with Salbatore in chase and the two were well clear of the rest as they moved into the last 400 metres. With a furlong left Salbatore was asked for an effort by jockey A.M.Tograllu and the short priced favourite did well to surge ahead and go clear. Racing Ikon stayed on to take the second spot while Kireeto finished third.

Vijay Sakhi (Tagula-Markova) justified the favouritism in the lower division. Parade Queen set off in front and held forte till the top of the straight. Vijay Sakhi moved quickly to be second approaching the last 600 metres and once into the straight did not lose much time in getting to her task. Blue Eyed Babe and Save The Nation tried to make a late bit but the winner was easily home. Blue Eyed Babe was half a length behind in second while Save The Nation finished third another three parts of a length adrift. Symbol of Choice was withdrawn before the race.
