DANCE TO DESTINY BOUNCES BACK TO WINNING WAYS

Chestnut filly Dance To Destiny (Ikhtyar-Maya) from trainer Laxman Singh’s yard bounced back to winning ways in the Half A Crown Plate. Having won her first three starts, the filly had ended up second to Vijay Viraaj in her last essay four weeks ago. Pitched against eight opponents over seven furlongs for the first time, Dance To Destiny carried the public purse to a convincing win. Lucy Diamond led from the outside and Dance To Destiny settled nicely in second close to the fence. Rounding the final bend Dance To Destiny was taken to the front by jockey A.M.Tograllu and the filly stretched out effortlessly. Golden Arrow finished second ahead of Machine Gun. Kohinoor Punch finished fourth.

Kunigal Stud bred Azarenka (Burden of Proof-Tetisheri) started off her career with a big win in the Recommender Plate, a 1000 metres dash for 2 year old horses. Five youngsters, all first timers lined up for the scurry. O Ms Akhila set off on a start to finish mission and held forte well into the home stretch. Azarenka started to close up the gap approaching the last 300 metres and sped past to score a convincing victory. O Ms Akhila ran on to be the runner-up while Charming Beauty finished third many lengths behind.

Nano Dame (Epicentre-Streaking Senorita) from Anupam Sharma’s stables pulled it off successfully in the higher division of the Deccan Bookmakers Trophy. The 4 year old filly whose only win from 22 starts was over a year ago needed the strong riding of jockey J.H.Christopher to register a win. Rocking Racer led from the word ‘go’ followed closely by Spirited. Nano Dame raced a close third till into the straight. With 400 metres left Christopher pulled out Nano Dame to make a bid from around the duo in front. Spirited headed past Rocking Racer first and then came Nano Dame with a resolute gallop to get the better by half a length at the wire.

The lower division of the Trophy was won by S.S.Faisal Hassan’s Musk Melon (Mr.Mellon—Stupendous). Racing handily in about fourth position close to the fence while the favourite Light Blue Sky led from the front, Musk Melon was asked for an effort by apprentice Akshay Kumar and the 4 year old responded with big strides to get to the lead and draw away from the field. Light Blue Sky held on to the second place from a late finishing Amazing Power.

Trainer S.S.Faisal and apprentice Akshay Kumar had earlier in the day teamed up to score a maiden win on Turf Queen (Ivory Touch-Mi Jhinkle) in the division I of the Hidden Bloom Plate. Turf Queen who was winless from fourteen starts finally made the grade over the 1400 metres trip. The race favourite Concours had taken charge within the first 100 metres and carried the lead into the straight. Turf Queen gathered momentum inside the last 250 metres and with a sustained gallop headed past to beat the favourite by 2 ¼ lengths. Colourful Trip and Nirvana filled the judge’s frame in that order.

Faiyaz Shaikh trained Bold Reason (Mr.Mellon-Reminiscent) scored an easy victory in the lower division, the concluding race of the day. Classic Emerald was withdrawn after being troublesome in the gates and seven runners finally took off for the 1400 metres race. Tricks of Gold set out on a start to finish mission. Bold Reason improved to be second on top of the straight and with jockey B.Dileep pushing the gelding hard, surged ahead with 150 metres left from the finish and stretched out easily. Golden Flash finished third in front of Pirouz.

M.V.Narayana Rao trained Flower of Temba (Emerald Cat-Cordon Rose) pulled it off successfully in the Godavari Cup. The favourite Transition who showed plenty of speed at start led all the way and was well in front into the final run. Cannon Ten began to close up from the outside and Flower of Temba made her bid between the two. The three headed for a close finish and Flower of Temba ridden by Deep Shanker just managed to edge out Transition on the post. Cannon Ten finished third half a length adrift.
