BOLD MAJESTY IS TOP COLT IN BTC CAMPUS

Trainer S Ganapathy leading Bold Majesty (A Sandesh Up), winner of The Bangalore 2000 Guineas (Gr.2)

The followers of form enjoyed a good run under the cool winter season, most fancied contestants putting their best stride forward to the delight of their supporters and as a result most punters enjoyed the better of the exchanges on the second classic day on Saturday.

The fact that  the Mumbai races scheduled to be held on Sunday were cancelled due to rains and the Bullseye  tapes leak which was a  big topic of discussion at  this centre did  draw the attention of most big owners and the pros at this centre, who were seen feverishly debating the issue,  did not stop the railbirds  from chosing to  punt big on Bold Majesty (Multidimensional-Fond Fantasy),  the on-money favourite in the second classic of the season, the Bangalore 2000 Guineas and the favourite piloted by the top Mumbai pro Sandesh justified the confidence of his supporters while making his unassuming trainer Ganapathy proud in the classic event .

The Mysore Derby winner who edged out the Hyderabad Derby winner Spreadeagle  in his last essay  looked a picture of fitness and in the absence of Spreadeagle was the overwhelming favourite in the classic.  Coldstream who had recorded a hat-trick  had his fair share of supporters despite t he fact that many old hats in the game were of the opinion that the son of English Channel was suspect over a mile long trip. The knowledgeable were proved right, the Arjun Manglorkar ward   failing to make the frame while the Suleiman Attaollahi schooled Booker Jones did pose a challenge to Bold Majesty before the top colt  piloted  by Sandesh stormed home to establish that he is the best colt in the campus.  Bold Majesty’s next target is the blue riband of the winter season on Republic Day and going  by the book of form the triple classic winner is certain to start favourite in the Winter Derby.

The Padmanabhan schooled Equine Love was another impressive winner over a mi le long trip.  The smart looking filly  partnered by leading pro Suraj Narredu shed her maiden status in style  putting the issue beyond doubt, the moment Suraj  released the grip on the filly at the top of the straight. The winner of the Sovereiegn Crown Plate is at her best and is set to provide an encore.  The grey Real Supreme despite looking a trifle heavy impressed most while finishing second behind the winner and on the strength of this performance is ready to earn his cornbill when saddled next.

The opening event, the lower division of the Bangarpet Plate run over a sprint produced a shock result, Sayyonee edging out Icecream in a close finish before Imran Khan astride Extra Spark  from Sirajuddin’s yard  put the railbirds back on the winning road. Extra Spark who had impressed most while finishing  an easy third in his last essay was  strongly fancied and the public choice  without unduly extending himself cantered home to the delight of his supporters.

The Infants Plate was touted as a two-horse affair, Oxford Opinion from Ganapathy’s yard and Private Paradise from the stables of B Puttanna expected to dominate the finish.  But it was the unfancied Magical Light from Neil Darashah’s yard who gained the day  pegging back Private Paradise at the shadow of the winning post.  The favourite Oxford Opinion who had impressed most in the morning trials appeared a trifle gross at the paddock  and it was surprising to note that  he still enjoyed overwhelming support despite his below par condition in his maiden essay.

The M R Stud Farms group pulled off a successful gamble through Wild Wild Angels in the next event, the upper division of the Bangarpet Plate run over a sprint.   The favourite from Dominic’s yard  was steadily prepared on the inner sand track and that  prevented the track reporters from setting their eyes on the winner  who  looked a picture in the parade ring before providing a reason to smile to his owners.

Surprisingly ignored in the betting ring despite chalking out two effortless victories from his last two starts,  the in-form Smile Stone completed a hat-trick of wins  in the hands of Nitin Singh. Click garnered the maximum support in the upper division of the Harangi Plate but he found Smile Stone a tough nut to crack. Albertino  in his lung-opener exercise hit the front and set a good pace before he burst his blood vessel.

Adriphos was one other favourite who prevailed thanks to Arshad Alam who appeared to have developed cold feet the moment  he challenged the public chose astride Kimora.  Cannes needlessly  was pushed on the wide outside before making his run and with that lost all his chances to pose a threat to the first two.

Strombolite was the top fancy in the concluding event but the Azhar Ali ward failed to produce a winning gallop after being favourably placed at the top of the straight. The unfancied Game Dancer made every post a winning one and this time out Arshad Alam  displayed his true potential.  Yellowzone was never in the hunt and so too was Coolmore who finished second despite racing in patches.
