MORNING MIRACLE MAKES A ‘MILLION’ ON DEBUT

L.V.R.Deshmukh schooled Morning Miracle (Abbeyside-Actuate) was ridden to victory by P.S.Chouhan in the Juvenile Million in a gripping finish at Hyderabad on Monday. Eight youngsters lined up for the five and a half furlongs dash and five among them including Morning Miracle and the runner-up King Charles were first timers. Deshmukh’s ward held a clear lead in the betting, sent off as the favourite at Evens. Morning Miracle was speedy at start and set off in right earnest to lead the pack. Moon Walker ran a close second with King Charles from the outside. Inside the last 400 metres Morning Miracle was still looking good when Karromshade emerged along the rails but failed to match strides. King Charles in the meanwhile took some time to raise a challenge and once he did started to close up with every stride. The two youngsters fought the last 150 metres and Morning Miracle just about managed to pull it off by a short-head.

Trainer Laxman Singh claimed both the divisions of the Classic Style Plate. Policy Maker won the higher division while the filly Whats Up wrapped up the lower division. Policy Maker (Home Affairs-Admiration) raced close to the leader Exclusive Beauty early on. As they rounded the final bend Exclusive Beauty drifted out alarmingly to run close to the outer fence. Policy Maker stuck to its path and slipped in to extend the lead well on the straight to win it easily. Exclusive Beauty kept galloping well from the wide outside to take the second position. Yksi Yksi Yksi and Twinklingofaneye finished third and fourth respectively.

Whats Up (Mathematician-Lyricist / Sans Craintes Stud) was ridden well by A.M. Tograllu to pull it off from the favourite Coral Springs. Symbol of Honour set off on a start to finish bid and led till the last 300 metres. The favourite Coral Springs started to close up nearing the distance post. Whats Up began to move up from the outside and with a resolute gallop flew past to wrest the issue. Midnight In Paris finished third behind Coral Springs. Field Commander was a non-starter in the race.

K.Satheesh trained Modern Sniper (Noverre-Wonder Smile) scored an encore in the Crown Treasure Plate. Jumping out from the outermost draw among the thirteen runners, Modern Sniper improved steadily to be the leader as they headed towards the last 900 metres. Inside the last 400 metres Modern Sniper kept kicking on under apprentice N.S.Rathore to win uncontested. City of Dreams rallied on to be second while Red Express and Lips Locking ended up third and fourth respectively in a close finish.

Shades Of Victory (Epicentre-Evening Bride) from trainer K.S.V.Prasad Raju’s stables was ridden out by J.H.Christopher to snatch the Palampet Cup from Red Rambble in the last stride. Killer Instinct led the pack of seven from the start over the 2200 metres trip. Inside the last 400 metres Red Rambble had to be ridden out to head past Killer Instinct. Shades of Victory started to gain ground from the outside and with jockey J.H.Christopher riding out, just managed to pip Red Rambble at the wire. Silver Passion finished third ahead of Killer Instinct.

Trainer Anupam Sharma and jockey K.Mukesh Kumar continued with their good run with a double with Sarvagnya and Mrinalini. Sarvagnya (Juniper-Ahliyat) who had won two successive starts this season was the favourite at 11-10 in the Ballo Plate, the first race of the day. Taking the lead early in the race Sarvagnya led all the way and effortlessly won the 1400 metres trip to complete a hat-trick. The eChallenge beat the rest to be second while Jaz Elle ended up third.   

Mrinalini (Gaswar-Mint Royal) won the higher division of the Starry Scene Plate in almost a similar fashion as that of her stable companion. Making every post a winning one, Mrinalini bounced back to winning ways. Numinous and Parade Queen fought out the last 150 metres and finished that waywith a shorthead separating them.

L.V.R.Deshmukh’s Rapidest (Ad Valorem-Rathvin Raven) lifted the lower division in a runaway fashion. Apprentice Ajit Singh had the young colt going well in front from the start and stretched out effortlessly to win by almost a distance. Miount Titlis in second all through the straight held on to be so from Flower of Temba.

L.D’Silva trained Graceland (Epicentre-Samurai Sword), winless from twenty seven starts finally came good to score her maiden win as the biggest upset of the day in the Solitaire Plate. Kohinoor Thunder and Chocolate Soldier were involved in a duel approaching the last furlong when Graceland moved from the inside and when pulled out by apprentice C.S.Vikrant accelerated exceedingly well to settle the issue well before the winning post. Chocolate Soldier finished second while Sterling Finish and Kohinoor Thunder finished third and fourth respectively.
