Mr Zeyn Mirza & trainer S S Attaollahi leading Azzurro (Trevor Patel Up), winner of The Chickmagalur Nirvanappa Shetty Nanjamma Tmp Cup

Among the leading professionals on the circuit, the consistency and strike rate of Suraj Narredu  tops the list.  The classy pro back after his success at Macau is continuing to boot home  winners, both at his home centre (Bengaluru) and Mumbai  and at the time of writing,  the star performer recorded a classic double,  guiding home the best horse on the circuit,  Be Safe in the Indian 2000 Guineas in Mumbai after his thrilling victory on Godspeed in the 1000 Guineas on Thursday.

On Saturday  in Bangalore,  Suraj to the delight of his supporters recorded a popular treble driving home the three public choices, Areca Wonder,  Arrogant Approach and Ace Badraan.

Astride the money back favourite Areca Wonder  who had impressed most while finishing second behind the goodtype of youngster  Marine on debut, Suraj didn’t really need to move a muscle, the B Puttanna ward cantering home in the Agumbe Plate for juveniles.

In the upper division of the plum event, the Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar Memorial Trophy,  Suraj astride the Suleiman Attaollahi schooled on-money favourite Arrogant Approach  chose to play the waiting game for most part of the seven furlongs trip before he setalight the public choice  approaching the distance post to romp home in emphatic fashion.

In line for a treble, Suraj guiding the fortunes of Ace Badraan from Azhar Ali’s yard produced his best to edge out the in-form Castle Stuart close home. The fact that Ace Badraan despite moving better than Castle Stuart was shying  from passing the Arjun Manglorkar filly put Suraj in a spot of bother before the  top pro  pulled out all stops and packed punch on the favourite to win close home. Jersey Shore  impressed most while finishing third and is one for the notebook. Apparition, it appears is not at the top of her game and it will do a world of good for her supporters to ignore the Suleiman ward before she regains her form.

In the upper division of the Amathos Plate, the Nithyanand-trained Expert who had a couple of good efforts under his belt and Dawn Of Light who was making his debut after nearly two years after recovering from a bad tendon garnered the maximum support.  Expert hit the front while Dawn Of Light was struggling to gain a favourable position before he slipped and lost all his chances 800 metres from home.  That made the task of Expert easy but the Nithyanad ward after establishing a good lead surrendered to the late challenge of the Dominic schooled Atmos close home.

The lower division of the event in fact saw the Dominic schooled Dream Star who was backed to the exclusion of his eight rivals going down to the ten to one shot Viva Diva. Masked Marvel caught the eye while finishing a game third and it will not be long before she enters the winners’ circle.

How Western Lady,  who was seen struggling to finish third in her last essay was installed the favourite in the Gulbarga Plate defies logic. The dud filly again took a lot of good money down the drain. The lesser fancied  Indian Legend from Prithviraj’s yard  romped home ahead of La Mell who also had a fair share of supporters.

Windamare was ineptly handled by Shahbuddin  and it will pay to follow her when saddled next.

The vastly improved Native Indian was rightly fancied most in the lower division of the Ruia Stud Plate and the Mahesh ward  proved too good for his eight rivals, seizing the initiative in the final furlong to post a deserving victory in the hands of Pradeep Chouhan.

After Commissariat bolted on his way to the starting gates, stablemate  Azzurro  who was the more fancied contestant from Suleiman’s yard produced his best to canter home in resplendent style. The favourite Big Ticket  back after his below par stint at Malakpet  again failed to make a impression suggesting that he now needs time and space to regain his fitness.

The upper division of the Ruia Stud Plate saw the well supported Athletic Star from Narayan Gowda’s yard edge out Magnitude Star close home. The favourite Accuracy, it was clear was never in the hunt while Real Steel could well have gained the day if his connections had chosen a better pilot . Shivakumar, it must be mentioned did his best till he  developed cold feet, the moment he challenged the front runner Magnitude Star when the race came on a boil.
