Racing Ahead (Shamardal-Rah Wa / Hazara Stud) from the stables of L.V.R.Deshmukh completed a hat-trick, winning all its three starts this winter at Hyderabad. The 5 year old gelding that is in rousing form was given a confident ride by P.S.Chouhan while annexing the T.Chandrasekhar Reddy Memorial Cup, a seven furlongs race for horses in the highest category. Racing Ahead rated highest among the four runners shared the favouritism with Always Bullish. Azaiba set off in front from the start and brought the field into view on the home straight. Racing Ahead who was tucked in along the fence all the way slipped in passing the 300 metres marker and drew clear. Azaiba held on to the second place from Always Bullish and Black Bolt.

Brilliant Twist (Ace-Refresh), trained by Laxman Singh won the Raja Sitaram Bhupal of Domakonda Samasthan Memorial Cup in a thrilling three-way finish. The short priced favourite Advocate General and second in demand Brilliant Twist raced almost together with three runners headed by Bharat King as they began to take the final turn. On entering the last 400 metres Advocate General shot through to take it up and Brilliant Twist also came up strongly from the outside. As the two started to fight it out Escalante made a rapid dash from the rear and the three were headed for a close finish. Brilliant Twist ridden by A.M.Tograllu managed to neck out Advocate General close to the winning post. Escalante finished third quarter of a length behind.

Trainer K.S.V.Prasad Raju was probably the happiest when his ward Aventus (Ace-Starboard) pulled off an upset in the Telangana Cup. The last time Aventus saw the winning post was over a year ago. The 5 year old had run close and missed out on many occasions since then. Hitting the front early at start Aventus led all the way and gained momentum when Dance To Destiny started to challenge inside the last furlong. Winds And Waves rallied along the rails to finish third ahead of Win And Enjoy.

R.H.Sequeira scored a back-to-back double on the day. Aggressive Approach and Pinky were the victors from his yard. Aggressive Approach (Tariq-Matinee) shed her maiden status in an impressive fashion in the Makalu Cup. Tracking Hunter’s Pride early, Aggressive Approach took charge near the 600 metres board and stretched out effortlessly to extend the margin of victory on the straight. For Sure, Scholar Gypsy and Noble Heights filled the judge’s frame in that order.

Pinky (Storm Trooper-Calais) sprang a surprise in the Dark Angel Plate. The short priced favourite Always together led the pack early followed by Grenadier, Pinky, Fashionista and Spanish Conquest.  Always Together looked to be running out of steam on entering the straight and Grenadier grabbed the lead with Pinky in hot pursuit and Spanish Conquest closing up from behind. Pinky travelled the best to pull it off by a length and a half with Spanish Conquest finishing second. Grenedier and Fashionista finished third and fourth respectively while Always Together disappointed her supporters finishing last. Make Me A Star was withdrawn before the race.

Trainer Anupam Sharma’s wards wrapped up both the divisions of the Gangotri Plate. Symbol Of Choice (Roi Maudit-Silver Grey) scored an encore in the higher division. The filly was the smartest out of the gates and rushed to get to the lead from a favourable draw. On the final straight Symbol Of Choice kicked on easily under K.Mukesh Kumar to extend the lead. Komo Komo Komo chased the winner all the way from the start and finally lost out the second place to Symbol Of Glory in the last 100 metres. Camborne was withdrawn near the gates.

Green Jewel (Crown Jewel-Susanita) won the lower division well. Racing a handy third along the rails behind Star Engagement and Rapidest, Green Jewel moved between them on top of the straight and sped past to score easily. Rapidest rallied on to finish second while Ein Ein Ein improved late to beat Rosemonde for the third position.

T.Srinagesh trained Kireeti (Phoenix Tower-Starsinhereyes) scored its maiden win in the tenth start in the Starsky Plate. The 4 year old chased the favourite Racing Ruler into the straight and when ridden out by Akshay Kumar picked up momentum inside the last 200 metres to forge ahead and beat the favourite. Gochi ended up third.
