The result of the prestigious Qutab Shahi Million was not on expected lines as L.V.R.Deshmukh trained Plenipotent (Iffraaj-Beldon Hill / Mebajeona Stud) gave a convincing beating to its more illustrious stable companion Machiavellianism. Plenipotent set off to lead the pack of four runners over the mile trip with the favourite Machiavellianism racing second. Cornwallis and Greek Star braced the rear together about two lengths adrift. Entering the home stretch Plenipotent was travelling well in front under Akshay Kumar and Machiavellinism was clearly stressed out when asked for an effort. For the record Greek Star finished third ahead of Cornwallis.

Laxman Singh trained Tejaswini (Princely Heir-I Have A Dream) had a bold show in the higher division of the R.W.I.T.C.Cup. The 5 year old filly raced a handy third behind Mukhtar and Dandelion till the top of the straight and surged ahead when brought from around them inside the last 400 metres. Ashwa Shakti and Proof made a strong together inside the final furlong but Tejaswini was ridden out by Deep Shanker to stay clear by a length and a half from Dusty Lady who finished on late from behind. Ashwa Shakti and Proof finished third and fourth respectively.

Trainer K.S.V.Prasad Raju had a good day with a treble through Celestial Fire, Blossom and Go For Gold. The last two named were piloted by P.Sai Kumar. Go For Gold (Rebuttal-Noorain) who had gone down narrowly to Policy Maker in her last attempt was again involved in a photo finish in the lower division of the R.W.I.T.C.Cup but this time prevailed by a whisker. Go For Gold raced third while Jack Sparrow and Modern Sniper disputed the lead till entering the straight. Modern Sniper faded out on the straight and Jack Sparrow looked good till the last 250 metres and then was out of steam. Ashoka Chakra quickly joined Go For Gold and the two fought till the winning post where the bobbling of heads went in favour of the latter. Jack Sparrow ended up third.

Celestial Fire (Arabian Gulf-Dannenberg) shed her maiden status on the second start in the higher division of the Naloma Plate. The youngster dashed to the lead from an outward draw quickly at start and then almost made every post a winning one. The filly took the final turn four wide and the favourite Roi’s Cruise tried to grab the lead from the inside but Celestial Fire with renewed effort corrected the drift and stretched out well.  Roi’s Cruise ran a bit green under pressure in the closing stages and found one better for the third successive time. Delta Force did well to finish third. Arabian Fountain was withdrawn near the gates.

Blossom (Burden Of Proof-Callista) won the Adler Plate. Jumping out smartly from the inside draw Blossom tracked the early leader Shatakshi till entering the straight and then forged ahead to take charge without much fuss. Rock Heights came charging towards Blossom towards the closing stages but Blossom was safely home by half a length. Kimono and City Tex filled the judge’s frame in that order.

Trainer Laxman Singh saddled his second winner of the day in the Prince Pradeep Cup. His 4 year old filly Ivanova (Equitable-Glare) carried the public purse to complete a hat-trick this season. Ivanova improved gradually to run a close third behind Panachecorn and Big Move as they neared the last 600 metres and moved to the lead easily when urged by A.M.Tograllu inside the last 400 metres. Anupam Sharma schooled Green Striker (Sedgefield-Casanova Green) scored a stunning upset in the lower division of the race for maiden 3 year old horses, the Naloma Plate. The filly showed plenty of initial speed to get to the lead from the outermost draw. On top of the straight the favourite Majorca travelled better and surged ahead to take a clear lead but Green Striker came back with a sustained effort and regained the lost lead. Limitation was flying towards the finish but Green Striker held on by a short-head. Majorca ended up third in front of Golden Angel.

The gelding raced with the rear bunch till the last 600 metres and improving gradually got to a striking position mid-way up the straight. The favourite Mr.Glorious rushed to grab the lead inside the last 200 metres and then came Flying Spur with a big gallop to get the better by three parts of a length at the finish.

M.Sathyanarayana trained Glorious View (Placerville-Glorious Fantasy) justified the favouritism with an easy victory in the lower division. The 6 year old bay colt chased Ponte Verdi till entering the home stretch and took over the running on top of the straight.
